Comments about PDP Mainstage 5-piece Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:
If you are looking to take up drums, or are thinking about getting back into playing...like I was. Then this is the perfect set for you. For the price, usually cheaper when you wait for good promotions, you can't beat this set. As with most drum sets, you have room to grow. The shells and hardware are good, the heads, like most stock heads, are not the greatest quality and depending on what sound you are looking for, they don't have a great sound....but can be tuned to sound pretty good. I would personally recommend replacing the heads, after the first day of playing I replaced the toms with Remo Pinstripe clear baters, and Remo Ambassador clear reso. After replacing the heads and some tuning, it sounded great. The cymbals are pretty good, but not great. The hardware is strong and holds up well, even the thin boom stand is sturdy. The bass pedal is ok, depending on your skill level it will be more than adaquate. When your foot gets faster, you might want to upgrade. But by that time you will most likely want to upgrade the whole set. All in all, for the price, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal. You could find a used set, but I am always leery of used shells. If you are looking to get into drums or have a child wanting to start playing, I would highly recommend this set. I used it to get back into drums, and had a great time with it. I only wish they offered add-on pieces, extra toms, etc.
Comes with everything you need to start off.
Double braced hardware, solid construction.
Great price for a complete starter set.
