Comments about PDP Mainstage 5-piece Drum Set with Sabian Cymbals:
I am a percussionist but a beginning set player.
Okay, lets get the negatives out of the way:
Like any other new drum set, the stock heads are horrid. They have no flavor to them and sound like the bottom of garbage cans. If you are an experienced tuner, you can get some flavor until you save up a few buckaroos to get new heads. The snare heads have the numbers written on them because the drum set was meant for beginners. Also, I'm kind of scared of the throne hardware, I kinda feel as if the throne fall straight to the ground.
Now the positives:
You have everything here to get started. This can be turned into a good gigging trap with new heads and a basic cymbal pack. The hardware is braced well and won't bend unless you are frequently harsh to your cymbals for long periods of time.
As I said, it's a great starter kit and immediately good for practicing.
Remember this advice:
1) Get new heads
2) Get new cymbals
3) If you're into metal, get new pedals.
