This set is well worth the money. I got it a few months ago and love it, and has really nice clear tone to it. I added one more 22" kick drum to my set and it made it sound that much better. I would recommend a new snare though.
Well these shells are made of maple witch is awesome, and if you put some double ply remo pinstripe heads on them they make and unbeleivably low rich sound that stands out how you want them to, I give them 11 out of 10 for all, unless your on a low budget, but they're worth every penny to me. Recomended for any style.
I've owned this kit for close to two years now and I am more pleased with it than almost any kit I have played before. It's made by DW so you know you're getting a good kit. The only downside is if you play with hard strokes like I do the screws in the suspended tom mounts (STM) tend to come undone so when you get it tighten them MONSTER tight, and there is no way to get those mounts off without first taking the lugs off. The Bass Drum hoops don't fit exactly right so you will have to adjust them from time to time. I put REMO Pinstripe heads on this bad boy and it sounds AWESOME. This kit is also VERY easy to modify. I plugged the tom mount hole in the bass drum, and that still sounds good. I suggest getting a different front head for the Bass drum, as the stock one was too resonant for my tastes. In short this kit is amazing, and I will probably never play another brand as long as I'm playing (unless it's DW) or a cool looking kid (such as acrylic).
This is a fantastic set. The maple shells really give the drums that beautiful tone that can be found in sets costing hundreds more. It is a very solid, great sounding set. I've had the Emerald Fade set for a year and a half and I have had countless people rave about how great the set sounds. I have Evans EC2 Clear heads on the the toms, Evans EMAD coated head on the kick, and an Evans Genera snare head. I think Evans makes this already fantastic sounding set sound supreme. If you want an affordable, high quality set that won't dissapoint you, I HIGHLY recommend this set. I have no need for a more expensive set. I am more than satisfied with my MX. PDP is the hidden wonder of the drum world.
