I've purchased this one and have to say only one thing - this throne is AMAZING. Rock-solid, heavy-duty, very strong, durable and comfortable. Pretty heavy for portable use though. The best one my butt have ever touched - 5-stars!
I've been getting so sick of the shoddy quality thrones often at shared kit gigs I've taken to bringing my one of these with me, I just love it. I'm tall (6'3") and most other thrones just lose balance or feel flimsy set up high. No such problem with this, it feels sturdy as a rock no matter what. The seat has the perfect amount of firmness to provide support without being a literal pain in the backside! Collapses nicely for transport, the top can be quickly and easily removed and replaced, and when you set it up again your height will be untouched. Some might say it's a little heavy but it's worth it for the stability.
I've had a very nice Tama throne for a few years, but as I was very young at the time, I didn't realize that I had purchased a "low-rider" version. Lately, I've been having knee problems. Pain when I walked for more than 30 mins, trouble standing for long period of time etc, and my doctor confirmed that it was due to the height of my throne. I was sitting my legs parallel to the floor and was trying to unbury the beater, causing me pain and stress. So I set out to buy a new throne, and I found this one, for roughly the same price as my old one. When I brought it home, I set it up and it was SOOO easy to adjust. Smooth as butter. The seat is soft enough that it doesn't feel like you're sitting on a rock, but not too mushy that you lose support. It goes nice and high, and retains great balance, which is very important for me and other drummers. Within the first day I could already feel a difference in my knees, and proper bass drum technique became SO much easierEasily adjustable, sturdy, and comfortable. What more could you ask for?
I have been touring for 15 years with a top of the line Pearl throne. They take lots of abuse and keep on working , night after night. It finally gave out on me, so I got this D-1000, the newest version. I am pleased with the look and feel of it- ROCK solid and easy as hell to adjust. THe foam is a little bit firm but I know it will soften up some over time. After all, these do last forever..
I use this throne in my band class in middle school and its a great throne. It's easy to adjust, a bit squeaky, supports a person who is very heavy like myself, and easy to transport. :)
This throne is exellent. It's VERY sturdy! Worth the cost and then some. Only thing is it might be a little heavy to haul around for some people. But this thing is a beast!
