Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
I couldn't ask for a better throne. It was a little expensive, but I do feel that I got my money's worth this time. Pearl definitely lived up to their reputation when they designed this throne. I am a big guy, but this throne is up to the challenge with room to spare.

Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
Musician's Friend, stop removing negative reviews. I bought this model last May. First thing I found was that the backrest slide adjustment knob was completely stripped out. I figured I could live it. Seven months later, the entire center shaft assembly let go and nearly dumped me off the stage. Of course, now I have to deal with Pearl, since MF won't take it back, being that it's past the 45 day limit. I'm completely furious, considering what I paid for this thing. Never again will I have a Pearl throne. I've had cheaper ones last far longer than this one did!

Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
I've had cheaper thrones last longer than this one. I'm really annoyed, because Pearl USED to build rugged equipment. I bought it last May. Found the backrest adjustment knob stripped out when it arrived. I figured I'd live with it for now, right up until the backrest pad fell off! Then the little tip that holds the seat straight on the center stem broke off.
Now, 7 months later, I almost got dumped off the state last night when the entire center section of the throne let go. I'M REALLY disappointed, considering what this thing costs. It's got a one year warranty, so let's see if I can get it replaced. As a steady gigging player, I NEED a throne I can depend on!!!

This is the most comfortable drum seat I have ever used !!!
Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
I've said it all above. This throne is incomparable to any other one I looked at in this price range. I'm sure there will be those who disagree since we're all different, but this one does the job for me, period! It'll be the one I'll use until I retire for good.
I bought this throne after my trusty Gibraltar 12 year old throne finally gave out under my 280 lb. body. The old seat bent almost in half one night when I happened to lean against the backrest a little too hard, it seems. I have to say that I got my money's worth out of it, though. It was the best of its day, like this one seems to be today.
This one, while spendy, is what a 61 year old, 5'11" 280 lb. drummer with a bad back needs to get through the night. It's a great investment if you're wanting a new throne. I've gone through around 20 thrones in 46 years of drumming, many used during the days when I wasn't this heavy. Until my old Gilbraltar came along, none held up. Now this one will probably the one I'll finish my career with in the next several years. It's built like an Abrams tank. Pearl makes terrific hardware, if you spend a bit more for their better stuff. This throne's no different in that respect.
I'd recommend this throne to anyone, light or heavy, that has back or leg problems. Just spend a little time adjusting it. If it's a little high, it'll get you in the legs, but once it's done right, to me, it's unbeatable.
Don't cheap out! This is money well spent!
Top-notch! If you're a big man like me, you need a throne built like a tank, and this one's it. Great tractor-type set, good padding.
As I said, it's not a cheap throne by any means, but all cheap will get you are a ton of aches and pains, along with a throne that won't last a year.
Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
By far this is the best seat i've tried yet. Comfortable and non hindering. The only draw back is this is the first Pearl item that did not come with a tuning key which locks the memory clamp.
Comments about Pearl D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest:
Overall I am very pleased with this throne. Last time I went to the doctor with back pain, my doctor quipped 'welcome to your 40s, get use to it', and prescribed pain killers. After buying this throne I'm going to help extend his medical prowess by having him prescribe for his other drummer victims good posture and the 'D2500 Drum Throne with Backrest'. For those under 40, start early and prevent future back issues (yes - I also thought it would never happen to me), by purchasing a decent throne like this one. In summary, a good solid product, high quality, nice features, comfortable, and should last the duration. Recommended.
This has all the features expected of a higher-end stool, plus a comfortable backrest. The rest is fairly narrow so as not to get in the way when playing, but wide enough to be effective. Depending upon the orientation of the three feet, it is possible to lean back on the backrest and have the throne tip slightly, but this can be avoided by appropriate placement of the legs, and it's not a big deal - a four legged stool could suffer from the same problem. Nice height adjustment and locking capability. Overall it has a solid feature set.
Solid build quality and reasonable cushion material (vinyl type material). Good feel to the mechanical adjustments. Weight is reasonable given the solid structure of the throne.
You get what you pay for. This is a relatively expensive throne with good features and quality. If you just need something to sit on, then any cheaper throne may suffice. However, my 'older' back and posterior seek comfort these days, so I don't mind paying the extra for something that allows me to forget about the pain and focus on my playing (which unfortunately requires all of my limited concentration). I gave a slightly lowering rating for value because of the relative expense for this throne, but again, you get what you pay for, and I would not let the price stop a purchase if you are looking for quality and something that will last.
