I have been playing for 50 years now, and this is one of the best new things I have found in all that time (I only use these for bottom heads)! I first tried one out on my Premier kit bought in Scotland in 74. After that, I bought them for all the rest of my toms. For many years played with heads off toms/front of bass (worked out well when stationed overseas and hard to just pick up a head)and then started to cut down my heads (after they're on the drum, cut to within 1 1/2" of the rim). Cannot stand any type of ring in my drums this made them sound great and full. Then I started having some problems with the shells coming loose on my older drums when I didn't put bottom heads on and cut them. This takes away all those problems, great appearance and protection, and no ringing and allows the full sound of the toms. Since then, put them on 70's Ludwig rocker 7 piece set and when my Premier and older Ludwig and Remo sets were burned up in a fire, now have 2 Mapex maple sets which my wife says sound awesome. This is not a paid rating in anyway, just so hopefully helpfull advice, these are that great. Also, thanks for all the other reviews. Will try on top heads with the Muffl's (which I use on all toms anyway), for my practice set.

When I first got into electric drums, I naturally tried these because they are cheap compared to other brands. The old saying rings true again...you get what you pay for. Roland heads are the best, as long as you are using 8"-12" drums. Hart Magnums are long lasting too and worth the extra money in the long run...or you can make your own like I did and have great mesh heads that will last a long time and cost you next to nothing.

I'd buy them again in a hearbeat.
These are a great bang for your buck for practicing or triggering purposes (I use them for the latter).
Heads work great, will tighten to an desired tension, and are very durable.
Priced comparably (or cheaper to) normal heads. I recommend buying a package.

so far so good
My original Pintech head was starting to show wearon the edges. I crossed my fingers and ordered this one as a replacement. It fit perfectly and within 5 minutes, I forgot it wasn't the original: feel, response, triggering . . . all the same. Don't know yet how long it will last, but at this price I'm not losing any sleep.

I ALWAYS buy this type of head! If you don't trigger it is equal to a guitarist showing up with only an Acoustic guitar and thinking they are good to go. No, you need to be electric! Drums are no exception for live performances! Get smarter, grow up, smell the coffee and do what all the pros have for the last 20 years or so!..... or you can suck like the rest do.
Easy to figure out.
Last several years if not mistreated.
As cheap as regular drum heads and quiet. They also last longer!

We use these mesh heads in our music school for the drum sets. The students feel no difference between the mesh and the standard heads. The sound volume is greatly diminished so that we can place the drum room right next door to another studio with no problems.
Mesh works just like a normal drum head. It's just as pliable.
Quality is what you would expect from Pearl.

Got these MFH Mesh heads last week (10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 22" sizes) for my set since I live in appartment and don't want my neighbors to hate me. The heads have a good feel to them, though I did notice that they feel a bit slippery on my sticks when struck. The construction is basically a fine wire mesh (almost like a screen on a window, just finer) with a steel hoop. Seems like it'll be pretty durable unless you're a heavy hitter. I've only had them for a short time so I can't comment on how long they last or how well they keep the head tension, but I think they'll serve my purposes just fine. And, most importantly, the sound they produce is quite soft. There is also some actual tone behind it so you can somewhat 'tune' them so that each drum has its own sound. I replaced some of the rubber-type silencing pads with these because they kept falling off and had a pretty bad feel to them. In comparison these are muuuch better.

As many of the other Musician Reviewers stated ; This does makes for one Great Resonant/Bottom Head for that Singular Headed Sound at a very appealing price...now as one Batter Head it's silent BUT gives to much/unreal bounce which like many of the rubber pads will give UNREAL FEEL

I purchased the mesh heads and put triggers on them. Great sensitivity, the triggers respond to the attack and the drum heads are very smooth. I am using them on a 12" tom and a 16" floor tom. I mic the snare and use a trigger for the kick. Great combination for practice and live.

I've seen comments posted about the durability, and I'm thinking that these guys are just pounding the crap out of the heads. Shouldn't do that. They're for quiet practice, and if you're going to have music in your ears, then use ear buds with the volume wayyy low. I use them to warm up with rudiments and the bounce is unbelievable. Love them.

I got the Rhythm Traveler 2 or 3 years ago and it came with these heads and a plastic set (which are good) and the mesh heads are amazing. Quiet.... Durable (even when super tight)..... THE FIRE. These are definetaly (however you spell that) the best SILENT heads you can buy. I have a completely wooden house and it still doesn't bother anyone. I would recommend these for a beginner or a professional who wants a little practice kit.
