High Quality, Sturdy, But Too Tall

I want to be albe to use the stand while seated. It is far too tall for seated play. I am 6ft2in. It is a fine height for standing play, but not for a shorter player, and that is with it adjusted for the lowest height.
I have the skills and tools. I may shorten the stand by 6 inches or more
But too tall.

I have the Latin Percussion Classic II bongos and wanted a stand for them. I read all the great reviews about this stand and saw "... with universal "L" clamp to accommodate all makes of bongos." in the description - So, I bought it. I received the stand and it does not work with my bongs at all. The "L" clamp will not fit over the centerpiece of the bongos. I suggest that the description be changed, as it is very misleading. Now I am off to buy the LP stand that will actually work.

Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
Recently purchased this along with Shalloch Wood Bongo Set Vintage. I wanted good sound and ability to stand as I'm the singer in a duo and we've recently begun doing weekly acoustic gigs. I read other reviews on this stand of folks having trouble mounting bongos from other brands on this stand. I had 0 problem with that. The Shalloch bongos were super-easy to install and I had them mounted and on this stand to play within a couple minutes out of the box. Stand seems pretty heavy duty, but folds up well (not sure why it's call lightweight). I chose this stand as it seemed the cheapest option, but I'm very impressed. I'm 6'2", and it's definitely tall enough for me to play standing up, or short enough I was able to play while sitting in a chair. Highly recommended.

Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
This stand is more than I expected. It was a little tricky installing the bongo's as I have a set of Synergy bongos by Toca. with a little figuring I got it to work just fine. I have been purchasing a lot of equipment from Musicians Friend and have always been more than satisfied with the producs I have purchased and the great sales people , they were all very knowlegable . thanks again Musicians Friend sincerly

Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
I'm using the stand with my Toca bongos, and mounting the bongos to the stand is a little tight so when transporting I'll have to keep part of the stand attached to the bongos. Looking at other manufactures stands, this might be the case with all stands.
This is a very sturdy stand, that unlike other stands in this price range uses two separate fasteners to secure bongos to the stand instead of only one. If thinking about purchasing this stand, please keep in mind that due to the many different drum designs, it might take a little while to figure out how to actually attach the bongos to the stand, but should work with any brand of bongos. The stand's height adjustment, makes it comfortable to play the bongos while seated or standing, and is designed to allow the user to angle the drums too.
very sturdy!
did a little research of stands in this price range and this seems to be the best bet for your dollar.
Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
a little heavier than i thought it would be!
I wanted this strong bongo stand to work! But the L clamp would not fit down between the center edges of the drum......even a trip o hardware store could not solve the problem.....then in a flash i saw the solution....i rolled down the rubber covering of the L clamp, like a sock.....and then applied the clamp UNDER the central edges of the drum....victory.....a perfect setup!!!!!
Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
Perhaps Pearl has improved this item since the somewhat negative posts below... I don't know. What I DO know is that this bongo stand is rock-solid. The mounting system is easy, if you're careful and have a little patience. Worth the trouble for the stability.May not work with the Meinl "Free Ride" thing (haven't tried it.)Not to mention the LOWEST price on a bongo stand at Musician's Friend.
Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
I've owned this stand twice. Both times, the same metal part on the hinge snapped in half. I'm a heavy hitter, so that's not the best for me. Both times, Pearl would not honor the warranty. It's a great stand for the average player...I liked it a lot, but it just wasn't strong enough. Unfortunatly, through past experience with other products as well, I'm no longer into Pearl.

Comments about Pearl PB700 Lightweight Bongo Stand:
Don't let the word "Light" put you off from buying this stand. I bought it to be used with a set of LP Aspire bongos (they're not ligh weight either) and this stand is more than able to support them. Good solid stand that can't be beat for the price.
