very good to play on, i played on them about an h0ur every day for 5 months with little dens to none. tuning is hard and a hastle but a good head

No matter how I tune this drumhead, it just sounds horrible. It came with my pearl export and it is the crappiest sound I've ever had on a bass drum. Stay away from it. Got an Aquarian Super Kick 2 and fix the issue right away.

Pearl protone heads tend to get a bad rap. It's usually justified because their tom heads are junk. However, the bass drum heads are excellent. They have just enough dampening. I've never needed to put any pillows inside my bass drum, which is a big plus because I hate using any dampeners other than what the heads themselves can provide. Mine is three years old and FINALLY is starting to wear out.

When I brought home my Export ELX kit last year,these heads were on the kit as delivered. I decided to try them out to see how they compared to Remo Pinstripes,my personal favorite.As I continued to play,the heads really worked better than I thought they would. Especially the bass head.It sounded like a cannon.....Anyway,the durability of these heads is quite good-I have played several gigs with these,as well as many hours of rehearsal,and they're holding up very well.So you can,indeed,take those new Pearl drums right out of the box,tune 'em up,and have at it immmediately.Try them-they ain't bad!
