I love metal snare drums, I have owned my share but these pearl sensitone elites are an amazing value! the looks are beutifully simple and not over bearing. I baught the 14 x 6-1/2 version of this snare, i was torn between the brass model and this one but the high polished shine of the bronze won me over, its a stunningly gorgeous drum to look at, and it sounds fantastic, not to ringy and very deep for a super thick backbeat, this is the perfect snare for driving a classic rock cover band ! I have an aquarian high energy batter on mine and it works great. if you want a metal snare that will compete with any on the market you simply cannot go wrong with any drum in the sensitone series, I also own the steel model but I like this phospher bronze a bit better its just tamer and the ring isnt as bad. Grab this and rock on ! awesome buy!
For the money, this is an excellent drum. Dark in character with an excellent tone. Added Puresound Custom snares and this thing can really sing!!!
I have owned a 5x14 Bronze Sensitone Elite for about a year and a half and it has proven to be a great snare drum. It's dark and warm, almost like wood, but it still has the bite and volume of a metal drum. This drum is perfectly at home tuned lower and providing a nice fat backbeat for straight ahead rock. The sound has nice body and it works very well with a singly ply coated batter head. Oh, and rimshots - forget about it. They are LOUD, but in a great way.
This snare is the best part of my kit, it is so versatile and great, I can crack up both heads and get a sweet ring that cuts through everything..or I can loosen up the reso head and a little on the batter and get the best backbeat sound ever, this is the best of the sensitones and it is one of the best metal snares out there..do yourself a favorite buy this drum..I have bought and sold many drums, but I plan on keeping this one for a very long time
