I have this snare drum. Promising myself I wouldn't buy anything Pearl as I wasn't fond with the company, I was completely blown away at how it sounded. I thought it would only fit my metal and rock side, but it doesn't. I use it as an auxiliary snare for my jazz or funk stuff. For rock and metal, I tune it up and put in the main snare's spot. Sometimes, I will turn the snares off and use it as a timbale. I would highly recommend this snare for anyone! Absolutely beautiful sound, looks, and quality!

this drum worked for me and stil does...used this drum for primary snare and just couldnt hit it hard enought to get it loud enough...very nice though mic'd situations...i also did not like the size, it seemed a little too small...but the sound was great and if u arent too much of a hard hitter this is great

pretty darn good

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

This drum has a little ring, but I kind of like that in a snare. Sounds good with a remo hazy emperor on the snare side and a coated controlled sound on the batter side, maybe a dampening ring or moongel to lose the excess ringing. great product for the price.

A cutter

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

This baby cuts through a mix like a chainsaw through pinewood. I prefer to mic it for recording with a small diaphragm condenser about 2 feet above. It is so loud beyond any other piece in my set, gating is in most cases unnecessary. There's a nice balance between the batter head sound and the snareside sound. If you wanted, with a bit of EQ you can make this snare sound like a 14 inch deep rock snare. The frequencies are there. But it excels at the pop/crack funky rimshot make-your-ears-bleed snap like a champion. It has decent sensitivity although you might notice that the snares have to be loosened a bit if you are playing soft, just to get the right balance of batter and snareside sounds. If I repeatedly play rimshots on the backbeat one particular lug always tends to loosen by the end of a song. That's the only issue I have with this snare. Who knows, it's probably the way I'm playing it anyway.

This is perfect for a rock band that does the occasional reggae or hip hop tune. Wide open it's very "ringy" and can be dampened for a tight sound.

    Great snare for metal too!

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

Yeah, I got the 12" because I was looking for a higher tone but not too high. Similar to the tone on the faceless's album. And this snare is so loud! Amazing for blasting, can have a nice ring to it as long as you don't have an evans dry head on it. It does go out of tune easily, but the volume and sensitiveity are worth the trouble! Gravities can be audible live with this snare! price wise, it's excellent. You know how metal drummers are broke, you can afford this snare.

    THE SNARE OF SNARES

    By Mast T J

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

I played this snare about a year and a half ago and it rocked so hard. I recently got some cash and decided to buy this peice. I was amazed at the crack and cut. I have not found any flaws. I need to buy some anti-ringers, but that can't be avoided. Buy this snare if you want something that sticks out and cuts through.

    great for drum and bass

    By Parley101

    from Reston, VA

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

I own 4 drumsets, and countless snare drums, I got the 10" firecracker, and it would be perfect for any drum and bass stuff, but it works great for countless other situations, a very nice resonant pop/crack. I have heard people say that the poplar ones don't sound that great, I don't know, but the steel one is great.

    great hard music snare

    By Anonymous

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

this snare is awesome. It has a very tight sound. A rim shot on this snare is what a rim shot is supposed to sound like. I use it as my primary snare. I have no regrets for buying it. you won't be sorry either.

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:

I originally got this as a side snare but quickly switched over and used it as a main snare. It has a very deffinative crack and cuts through everything else, and deffinately packs a punch. ive been using this snare tuned fairly high and i love it.
