      Not your average 10" tambourine.

This may look like a normal 10" headed tambourine, but it is far from it. First off, it is drum-key tunable, so you don't have to use those screwdriver-type tuners that are always falling off. Next, it comes with Pearl's exclusive Quick Draw mount, which converts it from mountable to handheld in seconds. Accessorize your percussion kit, or add it alongside one of you tom-toms on your drum set. The 10" head can easily take the abuse of sticks or brushes, and produces a unique tom sound with a hint of jingles.

      Comments about Pearl Tom-Bourine:

If you were thinking of adding a tom or a tambourine, you can't go wrong with this. Great sound and quality all around. It's the only affordable (tuneable) tambourine I know of that can take the abuse of sticks and that can attach to your drum kit or mic stand. I don't even like tambourines in general, but this one's so versatile, it has something for everyone.

In addition to tambourine and tom sounds it can pull off some bendir, timbale, and even some repinique sounds. And if you search for "tom-bourine" on Youtube you can find a guy who's able to get almost an entire drum kit's worth of sounds out of this with just some dampening, a large diaphragm mic, and some technique. Long story short, the thing's beyond cool - you'll get a LOT more mileage out of this than an extra rack tom or just a regular mounted tambourine.

      Discovering the Tom-Bourine

      By JMoody1

      Comments about Pearl Tom-Bourine:

I was intrigued with the Tom-Boruine as an interesting concept that I now use with two groups in which I play. I could not mount the instrument on my hi-hat stand, suggested by Pearl, as the arm was not long enough to get it out from underneath the hi-hat cymbals, so I mounted it instead to my right ride cymbal stand. I replaced the original head because of excessive overtones and installed a pin stripe head that I reinforced with a head dampening gel. I am now satisfied with the sound and some exciting rhythms can be created by alternating between the Tom-Boruine and the snare drum in much the same way that the hi-hat and snare drum are played together. The instrument is definitely rugged, solid, and durable that sounds best in the softer sections of a performance. It truly has a Tom sound with the hint of a tambourine. The performer should be prepared, however, to experiment and play around with the instrument before discovering its full potential. It will take some getting used to, but stick with it. I am still discovering different uses that open up new possibilities. Since there is no other instrument like the Tom-Boruine on the market, it is well worth the purchase. Try it!

      Comments about Pearl Tom-Bourine:

I bought this Tamberton for my ten year old son who is in band. I bought the snare drum for the Christmas before and wanted to gradually add a piece now and then until I could see that he has the commitment to play and not quit. It gives an added advantage of being a very good quality tamberoine and a tom at the same time. I would not dream of playing it simply as a tamborine but I guess if you were strong you could. It would take the beating! This is a good quality piece of equipment, I have sent back several 'quality' products from other sites, this is what it says. Along with a 'cow bell' a 'hi hat' and a 'cymbol' his snare ensaumbo is now ready for the final addition. A quality set of drums (Maybe an expansion pack since we have everything else)! I am a picky person, I was happy to buy the absolute last Gibson SG Three Single Coil (Natural) Electric Guitar and would not trade it for the world and got it for a steal (0ne of 400 made as it is a Gibson Guitar of the Week [Week 30 I think]) SO watch what you buy, money does not mean quality, equipment choices can be confusing take it from me, but this is great equipment at a reasonalbe price and nothing like it exhisted locally!
