Blended birch and basswood plies provide the Pearl Vision Birch Standard Shell Pack with low-end projection to match that of the high frequencies produced by smaller drums.
Vision Series offers a sonically advanced recipe of strategically arranged plies of premium wood to maximize frequency response of every component. As with all Pearl drums, each shell is formed from our legendary SST construction process that uses extreme heat, Precision-cut scarf joints, our proprietary Acoustiglue and over 1000lbs of hydraulic pressure to create the ultimate acoustic air chamber.
Vision birch drum sets come with a matching 6-ply Birch Ply snare drum. Pearl's innovative SR-900 Duo-Motion strainer can be converted from a side lever action to a Gladstone-type throw-off. The precision contoured lever allows for fast and absolute on/off function. A large adjustment knob insures fine tuning for superior snare sensitivity.

This drum set overall is an amazing set all together. I purchased mine with Pearl 900 series hardware and it is a very beautiful looking and sounding kit. I would recommend getting new heads considering that the factory placed heads are good but some new Remo heads would sound so much better. I would also recommend some way to dampen the heads because the drums ring. But again overall the set is worth the money, great for intermediate musicians like myself. The black on black looks absolutely fantastic, I would consider it!

My last new Pearl set was purchased in 1978. After many years in the clubs and then years in storage, I got them out again and started playing. My wife decided that replacing broken parts, heads, etc was too much and decided to purchase a new set for me! WOW, this Vision set has the Pearl quality I expected for a reasonable price. Very happy we choose Pearl again.

I'm actually a rock blues guitarist/vocalist and I've been around bands since I was 12. I just got this kit a few weeks ago. All I can say that is the best sounding kit in this price range once you break into it. I'm from the Philippines and since my band mates are over there, I cant share any ideas or have anyone to play with. So I just record some tracks and try to make my own music(kind of a sad and lonely thing to do but yeah it works) I use a zoom h4n as an overhead with a shure sm57 on the snare and a shure 52a on the kick. Even without EQ and compression the thing sounds amazing!(with the right tuning of course) I'm a remo guy and I enjoy pimping out stuff. I changed the stock heads with vintage clear emperors on the toms over clear ambassadors. coated ambassador on the snare and a coated power stroke 3 on the bass drum. And now it sounds so good I can't stop playing. :)
Note:
If you're a gigging musician, I'd stay away from anything lacquer finished. You'll never know what could hit your drums on the road. Those things are hella fragile. I was actually thinking of getting the VBLS but since I'm moving back to the Philippines I don't want any dings and scratches on my drums. It would take a very professionally trained ear to differentiate the difference between the sounds of the two finishes. Why waste more bucks on the finish when you could get better sound and durability on this. And spend the rest of the cash on hardware or skin and whatever. Some things are just pleasing to the eye, be smart and get one of these kits. :)

I just recieved the Vision Birch Standard Shell Pack (Chrome ). Shipped very fast and was packaged very well. I carefully inspected all components and there was no damage. If you are not into wrapped shells then dont buy the kit because you will see the seams. The kit does have memory locks for the toms and tom holders but not for the floor tom.The stock heads are ok but i recommend using a better quality head of your choosing, the snare needs alot of attention to tune with the stock heads. Its an eye catching kit but you will need to wipe it down alot because of smudges and people wanting to touch them. The 22x18 has an ok punch to it and the toms give you a good low tone. This is a great kit for the price, for a beginner and intermediate player.
You cant go wrong with the price. Be sure to use the promo code from the Musicians Friend Magazine and recieve an additional $50 off the purchase price.Just make sure you read the experation date.
