This snare excels in every way. Got it yesterday and threw on my evans HD head and couldn't be anymore satisfied. No dead sounds here, only the beauty and warmth of that birch ring, I hate the ting sound of stock metal snares. The Ivory looks absolutely gorgeous, you won't be disappointed with the visual aspect of the item. And for the price, you seriously cannot beat this deal. For many drummers a wood snare upgrade is just the missing piece to their kit they need and don't realize it. Don't hesitate on this one, buy it immediately. Can't wait til' I get a new resonant and snares on there!

This is a must buy.I changed the stock heads. I replaced them with Remo coated ambassador on top and resonant ambassador on bottom. I also changed the snare wires to puresound 20 strand blasters. What a difference. I use no muffling at all. I tune my snare high. This snare plays well and sounds good. I purchased the Ivory snare and I have owned it for a year now.

What a BOSS drum!!

By Joe Burke

from Maryland

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

This drum is so sick. It just came in today and I replaced my el crappo snare drum I had and boy is it sick. Its like a dove and my old one is like a crow. Its so boss. I love it. Its too legit to quit. The only reason I down graded it on features is because the existing head is a little too ringy. Some people enjoy that but I like mine nice and tight. No ring. So I put on an Evans dry head and man this thing is so legit now. And its a great price! It is ridiculous. I mean, the quality and tone is amazing. I love this drum. I toootally recomend it. Its just too sick to pass by. If you are even thinking about getting this... get it! you will not regret. Trust me.

If you are looking for a cheap snare that wont dissapoint go ahead and pich this up.
I bought this as a cheap snare for practice, after replacing both the heads i was able to tune it to my liking, not a bad snare at all.
I would recommend using moon gel.
Great value for money.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

If a serious Snare upgrade is what you need, then may I recommend this one to you. I am very pleased. Thanks Musician Friend!
This Snare has a great snare throwoff. It has a good sounding head and snares. I tuned my Top head to a "C" Pitch, and the Bottom head to an "A" Pitch, and it really shines! I have to track my drumkit with the only good Mic I have, which is the MXL 960 Condensor (which I also recommend), and yes I get a good balance from everything!
This thing is well built. Plays and sounds professional, it even help my drum rolls to improve!
Amazing!

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

This is an ok snare, The craftsmanship on the wrap on the outter shell is awful! The wrap was pulling apart from the drum and this is right out of the box! Any 3 year old could have done a better job. The next thing you should do if getting this snare is to change the heads to a QUALITY head like Remo or Evans and lose that chinsey snare with a QUALITY snare and you stand a better chance of getting a decent sound and feel. If this is your first wood snare...Welcome to what drummers have known for years about wood shelled snares but, Even this wood shell tunes like a steel shell...Its not as bad as a steel shell but its a close second.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I think this snare will sound better after I finish what Pearl started. Shell wrap not glued on. Bearing edges had burrs on them. I hand sanded with 1000 grit. I put a sealer on the inside of the shell. Will apply a second coat. I'm going to try a HD dry Evans head and see what I get. I didn't want a new project but I have a feeling this snare will give me the warm pop I'm looking for.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Being an inexperienced drummer I had no idea what snare to buy to play punk songs. I took a chance and glad I did. Love the sound. Works great for what I do. I mainly play covers and it is versitile for many different types of music. It makes me want to replace the toms and bass drum for a pearl too. Highly recommend.

      Great Price! Great Pearl quality!

      By Juan-HaOxG

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I am a pearl fan! I own A Pearl forum, from the looks of it used vintage kit its white so I purchased the Ivory snare to match my set and let me tell you this is a beautiful snare with great attack, nice side sticking plus I love the ring it gives in my opinion it requires zero muffling and I'd suggest a nice Evans HD Dry head along with the amazing snare nice punch one thing I can't really blame the snare on is when I disengage the wires and play they ring and slap the drum a bit but I think I just need to fix the wires, another cool feature to this snare is the dual motion strainer you can have a side or front up and down view and control on it comes with a free pearl key, Limited Edition. Pearl has out done themselves with the pricing and quality of this snare. BUY IT!

      Great Drum

      By Everett-JjCws

      from St louis

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I just received this drum today and tried it out at band practice. Now the head needs to be replaced but, this is a fantastic drum. The throw off is surprisingly smooth and the drum has the right punch and crispness that I like in a snare. The response is perfect.I bought it as an alternative to my steel and chrome snares, I am honestly considering Pearl as my next kit, I am so impressed with this drum.Only downside is that it has a little extra ring, but I think I can fix that with a stronger head. If you want a wood snare this is the one to get.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Could not believe the huge sound and tuneability of this drum. Played it at my bads CD Release Show and it was KILLER!!!
Well built with strong throw and snare chains.
Well made with good attention to detail.
It is the least expensive snare drum I own, but sounds as good as a couple of my DW's.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Build quality is quite good. No problems with finish or hardware. Fairly easy to tune, but take some coaxing. There is a lot of ring, though. Could be good, could be bad depending on what you want. I have an Evans hazy 300 on the bottom and a G2 on top, and it rings forever despite varying tunings. Not necessarily a bad thing, though. Overall a good drum for the price.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I have had this snare for a year now and have tried every thing i can think of to get this to sound good. From the factory the snare had a annoying after strike buzz and the throw did not completly throw off. Also very ringy. I replaced the heads with evans, EC reverse dot, ambassador on bottom. I have adjusted the throw off, the heads, and moon gelled with little results. Still have annoying after stick strike buzz and throw off will not completly throw off.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Overall, I think this is a fantastic snare drum, I think it looks beautiful, it sound great, and it is also very easy to use. This is DEFINITELY a good deal.
The Pearl VPX snare drum is a must have for any drummer. It has lots of great features that make it very easy handle. The Pearl VPX also comes with a 20-strand snare wire and a fast and easy to move throw off. It is also a very beautiful drum in the color I got which was Ivory. It also comes with Pearl Pro-Tone drum heads an they sound fantastic!
The Pearl VPX is also made very well. It is very durable and will not break easily.
This particular snare drum is the favorite of the few I have had in past years because I love the great crisp, loud noises that you can make with it if you really want too and it also is very affordable for it's great sound.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I got the Pearl VX snare as a wood alternative to the Sensitone that came with my Pearl VBX. MUCH better fit. The snare's a little deep sounding, very warm, and sounds great with my birch kit. It has a little (but nice) ring but less than most snares I've played (MUCH less than the Sensitone). Just feels very solid. Look up video demos, this thing sounds great and more expensive than it is.

I bought this snare to update from my crappy snare that I had since 6th grade. I didn't expect the drum to be great I just thought it would be better......I was wrong. This is a really good snare and it just has a really nice pop to it. Of course you have to change the head right away(I used Evans Onyx) but after that it sounds heavenly. One word............BUY!
