This snare excels in every way. Got it yesterday and threw on my evans HD head and couldn't be anymore satisfied. No dead sounds here, only the beauty and warmth of that birch ring, I hate the ting sound of stock metal snares. The Ivory looks absolutely gorgeous, you won't be disappointed with the visual aspect of the item. And for the price, you seriously cannot beat this deal. For many drummers a wood snare upgrade is just the missing piece to their kit they need and don't realize it. Don't hesitate on this one, buy it immediately. Can't wait til' I get a new resonant and snares on there!

This is a must buy.I changed the stock heads. I replaced them with Remo coated ambassador on top and resonant ambassador on bottom. I also changed the snare wires to puresound 20 strand blasters. What a difference. I use no muffling at all. I tune my snare high. This snare plays well and sounds good. I purchased the Ivory snare and I have owned it for a year now.
I like the throw off

Awesome "snap" with the strainer with a great rolling boom without it!
Plenty of amplitude, depth and attitude!

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Picked up this snare as a replacement for a snare I get into tune no matter what I did.
For the price, it's okay specially with the heads coming along. Not a bad sound directly out of box with standard skins but with some extra time and tuning and this can sound good as well.
Would recommend skin replacement as soon as you can.
I will replace to Evans, as the rest of the set has Evans.
Bought this snare from a store, at the same price listed here along with an two year extended "No matter what happens" - Warranty.

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

I bought this for my jungle kit. It's decent Pearl quality and with the right heads and tuning, it's great!
I have a much more expensive DW snare and my band mates say the Pearl sounds better!

I have only played it once, but it was to be used exclusively as a backup snare. I was so delighted when my primary snare broke and I got to use this thing. I am in love with it!

Comments about Pearl Vision Birch Snare Drum:

Build quality is quite good. No problems with finish or hardware. Fairly easy to tune, but take some coaxing. There is a lot of ring, though. Could be good, could be bad depending on what you want. I have an Evans hazy 300 on the bottom and a G2 on top, and it rings forever despite varying tunings. Not necessarily a bad thing, though. Overall a good drum for the price.
