Comments about Pintech Trigger Perfect Dual-Zone Acoustic Snare Drum Trigger:

It WORKS. Just don't expect it to live up it's name.
I bought this because I have other pintech products that I really enjoy playing. Also this trigger has a unique design with an adjustable arm and the name "trigger perfect." However, if this were called "trigger okay" then I would be really happy with it's performance.

When you install the trigger on your rim the best triggering area is the surface closest to the trigger. As you tighten the arm to secure the trigger, it will raise, making it difficult to place it. I found that by wedging a piece of paper between the trigger and the drum head you can increase it's accuracy.

My unit was incapable of tracking rolls and would often times have dropouts even after I rigged it.

There are a lot of great triggers to choose from and they aren't so arrogant to call them "trigger perfect."
All the parts are great. It has a purposeful design and is manufactured correctly. Although there are better designs out there that have worked better for me.
it is way too expensive for it's performance.

Consider Alternative

Comments about Pintech Trigger Perfect Dual-Zone Acoustic Snare Drum Trigger:

I tested this trigger on a TD-20 next to Roland's RT-10S and Ddrum's dual-zone snare trigger. This test was performed using a mesh drumhead for maximum dynamic range and control. I tried manipulating all of the TD-20's relevant parameters to accommodate it. While I liked the idea of having adjustable trigger pressure and a trigger sensitivity pot on the unit, the overall sensitivity was weak. The rim shot trigger could hardly be activated and the head trigger was less than pleasing, dynamically, compared to the other two acoustic drum triggers. Other cons included the rim mount screw bottoming out before the unit was completely secure on the drum and Pintech's use of socket (Allen) screws for this and the trigger pressure. If it can't be tightened with fingers or a drum key then it becomes inconvenient! The bottom line; if your looking to purchase dual-zone acoustic drum triggers I strongly recommend the alternatives. It seems to me that Pintech just needs to do more homework.
