Great Snare

| Review By: JoeyT-cuzjo | 4 months, 3 weeks ago

Features:

Snare throwoff - great, heavy duty, fantastic looking throwoff.

heads - came with remo coated ambassador batter head, and hazy ambassador reso; my favorite snare heads

lugs - there are 10, which is awesome to get a nice high poppy, tight sound. they look great with the acrylic and throwoff.

Quality:

right out of the box i checked for roundness and accuracy, and boy was I impressed. Not a single flaw, perfectly cylindrical, hoops fit, bearing edge on mine was actually 43 degrees, but thats okay, there's a margin of error thats acceptable

Value:

sure, it's not a dw, or tama, but pork pie makes awesome drums too. although it is one of their more low end snares, it sounds amazing for the money. tune it up nice and high and you can get great overtones. if you dont like overtones, but want that bounce, just buy a pack of remo rem0 rings or rtom moon gel. makes it sound nice and dry, if that's what you like.

Overall:

I asked for this snare for my 15th birthday in August 2011, and I'm extremely satisfied and grateful that I got it. 4 months of using it, absolutely no problems, more than satisfied with the sound and quality, and it looks stunning. will fit in with pretty much any kit! (except maybe natural or wood finishes... never know though )

This snare is awesome!  I have had it for, i think, a few years and its really lasted.  The snare is really loud and it's just pretty awesome.  I have had the original drumhead on it since i've gotten it and that has last.  Great sound, and is really poppy whenever you tune it high.  Selah

It has pop at high tensions while still keeping a lot of body to the sound. At Mid tensions it will knock you over with the power it has, so much force and depth. Head choice is key to get different sound characteristics of course. Evans ST dry seems to be a perfect choice for every application.

Buy this snare :]

Pros : Cracks like a rifle, if you want a good crack with some low end, loosen up that reso head, and prepare for a fantastic rock/country tone. You want to play funk or metal? Crank that baby up, and hear it sing!!! Cons : Got some resonance to it, which is hardly a con at all, but I know alot of people love a dry snare, throw a moongel on it, and its like heaven :] Bottom line, buy this snare if your looking for PHENOMINAL bang for your buck.
