Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

I asked for this snare for my 15th birthday in August 2011, and I'm extremely satisfied and grateful that I got it. 4 months of using it, absolutely no problems, more than satisfied with the sound and quality, and it looks stunning. will fit in with pretty much any kit! (except maybe natural or wood finishes... never know though )
Snare throwoff - great, heavy duty, fantastic looking throwoff.
heads - came with remo coated ambassador batter head, and hazy ambassador reso; my favorite snare heads
lugs - there are 10, which is awesome to get a nice high poppy, tight sound. they look great with the acrylic and throwoff.
right out of the box i checked for roundness and accuracy, and boy was I impressed. Not a single flaw, perfectly cylindrical, hoops fit, bearing edge on mine was actually 43 degrees, but thats okay, there's a margin of error thats acceptable
sure, it's not a dw, or tama, but pork pie makes awesome drums too. although it is one of their more low end snares, it sounds amazing for the money. tune it up nice and high and you can get great overtones. if you dont like overtones, but want that bounce, just buy a pack of remo rem0 rings or rtom moon gel. makes it sound nice and dry, if that's what you like.

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

This snare is AWESOME!!!!! I have used it several times playing with our youth group at church and it is too sweet. It cuts through the mix so easily! What's more, the rim shots you can produce from this baby are over the top. It is snare drum heaven. If you are looking for an awesome snare, look no further my friend. This thing rocks!

Awesome Snare!!!!!

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

This snare is awesome; I just recently got it to add to my DW collector?s kit. I tune it really high and adjust the snare wires pretty tight and I get a nice loud crack. The snare wires didn?t choke when I put them tight; it just gave the crack that I was wanting. It also didn?t have any overtones and rings. It cuts though anything. I use Evans genera and Evans snare side. I probably won?t even use a different snare in my life.

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

Pros : Cracks like a rifle, if you want a good crack with some low end, loosen up that reso head, and prepare for a fantastic rock/country tone. You want to play funk or metal? Crank that baby up, and hear it sing!!!Cons : Got some resonance to it, which is hardly a con at all, but I know alot of people love a dry snare, throw a moongel on it, and its like heaven :]Bottom line, buy this snare if your looking for PHENOMINAL bang for your buck.

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

First off, it's acrylic. It's going to be loud. The inside 45 degree bearing edges provide lots of potential for efficient energy transfer from the head to the shell - it's got a sharp sound and a strong attack, yeah? I love this snare. It's a snare drum, it ought o have some ring to it. My setup: Aquarian high-performance snare side, Evans coated G2 up top, maple hoops from Drum Supply House and one moongel. I also put Puresound blaster wires on, and with some careful tuning it can cover a good range of sounds. This was actually my first acoustic snare when I switched form V-Drums, and I use it daily.

Best... snare...ever.

By Anonymous

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

It has pop at high tensions while still keeping a lot of body to the sound. At Mid tensions it will knock you over with the power it has, so much force and depth. Head choice is key to get different sound characteristics of course. Evans ST dry seems to be a perfect choice for every application.

best snare ive ever played

By Brent

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

I've had this snare for about 3 years now it can take a beating. Hand made by an american, bright and full bodied with a warm undertone and quick decay. Nothing can beat this snare. I've played on many and I've never found something that has come close.

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

The snare came ready to play. All I added was some dampening and fine tuned it. Sound is crisp and dry. Sounds great in funk, jazz, grooves, rock settings. Creative, rich, full-bodied sound for such a low price! Looks really cool too!

    Ok Snare

Comments about Pork Pie Acrylic Snare Drum with Black Powder Hardware:

I don't like the way the snare sounds over all, it sounds muddy and is hard to tune, but it looks really cool and is decent for the price, plus pork pie is just cool in itself, anyway when I bought it I thought it was exclusive until they made a million more of them... oh well Great for Punk Rock!Ps. new heads take a while to set and like i said it has a small tuning range
