Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare Drum:

Right out of the box this snare sounded kinda nice. It appeared to be slightly out, so I ended up re-tuning the top head from scratch, and then just fine tuning the snare head, using learned methods and a Drum Dial tension indicator. I ended up with the snare head looser than Drum Dial's recommended tension settings, and the top head a bit tighter than it was to begin with. After this fine tuning it had a nice high-end crack along with a warm, slightly dry tone and slight over-ring. After fine tuning it, ending up with the top head a little tighter than before and sweeter sound than it had to begin with.I can't wait to bring this to the next band practice. In listening to some Disturbed, the snare sounds similar Mike Rengren's Pearl Reference snare. The maple shell is a bit thinner than I thought it be, but the shell has a nice resonance to it and the drum is solidly built. The black glass finish looks a little better in person than in the picture, too. And it was made by an American in California, U.S.A.

Great sounding snare drum

Comments about Pork Pie Maple Snare Drum:

I have been a fan of pork pie drums for years and again they've delivered! I purchased 14x7 Blk glass/blk hardware. This drum is still made in the U.S and finish/hardware are flawless. They've added two brass name badges, New Pork Pie engraved throw off, and a great bearing edge. This snare has lots of attack, Great pop, high volume and when tuned low. Can be a great rock sounding snare which is perfect for multiple applications. So overall buy this snare now and add it to your collection!!!!
