I've been playing for around 10 years, and I've gone through tons of different brands and types of sticks. I was using pro-mark 5b sticks for a while, but around two or more years ago the shop was out so they gave me these instead. They felt so right as soon as I used them. These are slightly lighter in weight and the tones they produce compared to 5b sticks. For this style of stick, I've found that these have the best flex out of anything around, especially compared to other hickories as well as oak. Because of this the response is basically perfect for me, since I mix between very light and very hard playing in the middle of sets and sessions. You can get a lot of finesse with these as well as power. For me, I feel more connected to my drums when I use these sticks. I prefer them for general rock purposes ranging from grunge to indie pop styles. I might even consider using these in a jazz band. These are great live as well as in the studio. Great warmth, feel, and projection. Not extremely light, but the light density of the hickory makes these sticks perfect.

I bought a pair of these, being my first Promark sticks I felt like they felt weird after playing with Vic's and the only reason I bought these was because of the name signed on them. Long story short, they broke after a good 2 hours. I would just wait until Musiciansfriend has Carter's New Vic Firth stick to get his signature.

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

I bought these drum sticks because I love Carter Beauford, but i was very dissapointed. They literally snapped in half during the first 2 minutes of use. If you are to get pro mark sticks get the 5B Shira Kashi oak models. They last forever.

    Just bought these today.

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

When I was stick shopping today I figured I'd try something other than my usual Vic Firth sticks. I liked the feel of these right away, and I only began to like them more when I got home and used them on my kit. I have a feeling I'm going to buy more of these in the future for sure.

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

A few years back I picked up a pair of these sticks and let me say they are probably the best sticks I've used. I find them very well balanced, with good weight to them. I have been using them exclusively now for about two years.

    These are great

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

I bought them because I could not find those sticks I always wanted to stick with. So when I went to our Canton Guitar Center I decided to give them a try. I am telling you I will never use another pair of drumsticks for playing on my drumset. They have that certain feel there just perfect. Carter did a awsome job designing these sticks. Buy these and you will never go wrong.

    Realistic View

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

I am currently a drummer at the New England Conservatory in Boston, trained primaraly in jazz, and love to play anything from fusion and rock to latin and bluegrass. I have been a huge fan of Carter and hsi sound, and buoght this sticks more as a "souviener." I was inspired to try them on my set today, and was impressed; the sticks taper nicely, and have great control and balance. The bead is rather large, (and the sticks heavier than most jazz sticks) nonetheless, they bring out the rich, warm sound from your drums and cymbals carter is known for. They stand up descent to "abuse" and are a great value for their money.

    These are some tight sticks.

Comments about Pro-Mark Hickory 5Ab Wood Tip Drumsticks:

Carter Beauford is the reason I started drumming. I have been a fan of his and DMB's for a long time. But even if I wasn't, these sticks would be the only ones I'd ever buy because they are just tight. I don't even remember what sticks I used before these.
