    Solid, unique design.

Rocket Rods are constructed with bamboo dowels surrounding a foam core. They feature solid maple handles and a movable O-ring. The result is a unique feel, excellent rebound, and added durability. ProMark Rods produce a lower volume than drum sticks, but more attack then brushes.

    Features

    • Bamboo and foam construction
    • Maple handles
    • Movable O-ring

When regular sticks are too loud, and brushes are too soft, Rods are just right. Order today.

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

Far inferior to Hot Rods, Cool Rods, etc. and yet more expensive. The selling point is the foam dowel in the middle that only makes the stick feel like a sponge. For certain people this may be the ticket but I was expecting a little more for the $20 or so that I shelled out for these.

Volume level is a whisper. Good for playing during a hymn or communion at church if you don't possess any dynamics. No one will get mad at you.

If you want to practice at 2 AM while your neighbors are sleeping, this is a good alternative. In fact, if you want to practice while your grandpa is watching Matlock this is also your ticket. Okay, so I've made my point. These are almost too quiet - half the volume of my Hot Rods and one quarter volume of sticks. So tell me what is the point in having a hickory middle for rim shots when the rest of the stick is only 1/6th of that volume? To suprise people? Oops I soiled myself!

Sometimes if you get carried away trying to hear yourself the foam dowel slips out between the wood ones and then you're playing with a silent stick until you adjust it. Mildly frustrating. Just grin and act like you meant to play silently. Have not broken mine yet but I have a feeling I might just trying to hear myself above the acoustic guitar player. Very overpriced. Well made, but overpriced. "Stick" with Hot Rods, folks.

    bad experience

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

I was disapointed thought these would be better than my home made ones (hardware store dowels sand end} but the didnt last as long as it took to get them here in hawaii. they felt good and had cool sound but broke in 10minutes or less. longer dowels might decrease the amount of force put on them at joining point or a way to replace broken rods and keep the handles
    looked cool felt
one broke right away sent back got replaced both broke first time used

    Great for a niche use

    By johnlenin1

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

I regularly play un-mic'ed musical theater gigs, which requires a nearly impossible level of quietness from the drum kit. After trying dozens of sticks and rods to find something that would let me play quietly, though with a good tone and as little of that "rod" sound as possible, I settled on these a few years ago. The foam core bounces much better than a traditional set of rods, and keeps the wood-on-wood sound of most rods to the minimum. If I tune the drums down a bit (these rods make the drums sound higher), you can almost not tell the difference. The wood shank gives a good feel and allows for nice-sounding cross-sticking.By their nature these rods are fragile and require a light touch, though they can still be plenty loud if needed. I find I can get about 2 weeks of 2-3 hours a day playing out of them before they start breaking or no longer bounce and sound as well as they did when new. I wish they'd last longer, especially for the price, but their success at the theater makes them more than worth it.

    Nice, but very poorly made..........

    By Winged Wheel Watcher

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

I like the actual wood drumstick in the center, which most "rod" products don't have. This is great for snare drum cross-sticks on ballads and latin tunes, and for a good cymbal crash now and again. They feel good in the hand and play well. The reason I give it such low marks though, is that they are poorly constructed. Another reviewer said his broke quickly. Mine didn't break, but they are both very noticeably warped with only minimal (10 mintues) of use. I play jazz and had used these at 2 prior gigs VERY lightly, with a lighter touch than regular sticks. I pulled them out again at a recent gig and could tell how warped they were just by looking at them. It's like someone grasped the center "stick" part, and then pulled down on both ends. I take care of my gear, and they were carefully packed (not crammed) into my hard stick case. They are now basically useless, as it's really hard to play with warped sticks/rods. I like them, but I would pass on them until Pro Mark constructs them better.

    Perfect for Samll venues!

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

These rods are great! I love the response on them, they feel great! My favorite feature is that you can do a cross stick with them, instead of using a stick and a rod. You can play a cowbell and minimize the noise level and still get the effect you want!

    Great idea, poor execution

    Comments about Pro-Mark Rocket Rods:

I thought when I pulled these out of the package,"these are really sweet" then I tried them and thought, "these are kinda cool", then I played 15 more seconds and the snare stick came apart and I thought, "these really suck!" For the 15 seconds though, I liked them. Save your money or at least go ahead and get the Lightning Rods. I've never had a stick break or even a rod break that quick.
