If you want to ride with a stick and get a fat backbeat on the snare these will do. They are useless on cymbals and non-coated drum heads. I've tried to drive the hi hats with these and it does not work. Interesting sound if you use a circular motion on a coated head. I love the heavier ProMark Rods, but the Broomsticks are very limited in their usefulness. BTW, the diameter is enormous; don't plan on doing anything uptempo with these.

        Comments about PROMARK Broomsticks:

These are great for acoustic music and can be used in a variety of musical situation from subbing for jazz brushes on coated heads to producing interesting tones and textures on hand drums. Creative percussionists in many genres will find several uses for these little wonders. Love them!

          Comments about PROMARK Broomsticks:

These babies are my favorites for playing alone or in a low-volume situation beause they just feel so good and have a really nice, warm tone. Vic Firth Tala Wands are my second choice. The Broomsticks have little attack on cymbals, so if you're playing a kit, they wouldn't do for most amplified situations.

For what they are, they stand up pretty well, but don't expect them to last forever if you play them really hard. And, really laying into them does feel great.

                  Comments about PROMARK Broomsticks:

These feel great in your hands & produce pleasant tones on cymbals and drums-including snares- much more pleasing than the various rod bundles on the market. Have just the right combination of supple texture and heft. Good for quiet rehearsals, and for upbeat ballads in performance (you'll need mics). The big downside: straw is frail. Unless you play pretty softly, they just won't hold up.

                    Comments about PROMARK Broomsticks:

I really like these. They give a nice soft brush on snares and a unique "thwack" on the toms. I would recommend them for someone looking to broaden their studios choices of gear.
Corn straw tends to go away after a while.
They sound great, but they are, after all, essentially corn straw, so they tend to ware out quickly

                    Comments about PROMARK Broomsticks:

These are not brushes. They are broomcorn, which is not responsive at all on cymbals. Forget about it. If the rubberish rings come off, like one of mine did, you won't have much luck getting it back on. If i had to go back, I'd get another pair of my Jeff Hamilton I gave away. These might be good for a sort of country/western snare+bass set up...
