This was my first drum set, and I was very pleased to find it at such a low price, yet still boasting features found on more expensive drum sets. I bought this set in the scratch and dent section. For this price, the set is an absolutely incredible value. The only real complaint I would have so far is the rims on the snare. It is only a six lug snare, so strong hoops are a must for drummers who like to tune their snare relatively high, like me. However, after only about three months of playing, there are noticeable arcs in the hoop and a couple of the lugs are about to bust through the holes in the hoop. It's not like i'm tuning it rediculously high either. I just tuned the bottom head to a B natural, but I can't get the top head to a C sharp, only a whole and a half step above that. All the other drums have worked just fine, and features such as the rim tom mounts are a great value on this set. The one thing that is pretty essential is to change the heads straight away. They have this patch on them that gives your drums a really weird attack, but switch to remo or evans heads, and you're in good shape.

unless you are just starting out, avoid this set. i recently played this set at my friends house and i was appalled at the lack of quality. the snare drum was terrible, with no town and a weird hollow sound. the toms have a lot of ring, and have no tone or punch either, even after tuning them. the stands that come with the kit are horrid. very slim and flimsy. cymbals plain suck. with a couple pillows the bass drum actually sounded pretty good though. however, this did not make up for the rest of the set being the worst i've ever played on.

I've had the pulse 5-piece kit since I started drumming 5 years ago. No, they aren't the best-sounding drums in the world, and a lot of the hardware and cymbals and heads that come with it are total crap, but that's how it is with any kit you buy. 2 years into the ownership I bought all new remo heads, a remo coated dot snare head, and an intermediate zildian cymbal pack. This made them sound at least 10 times better, and this is coming from a 200-dollar drum kit. You really can't beat that. I've played it live a lot of times and I always get compliments on it.
I bought this for my band, and we have had the best rhythm ever since I bought this set! I recommend this set to anyone who wants to jam!
I bought this set, already knowing that it won't be a professionally sounding one (heads, and cymbals are horrible). so what I did, as soon as the set was delivered to me, I bought Evans heads, Zildjian Z's, Paiste 802's and Wuhan cymbals and replaced the bass pedal with a double one. The set sounds... deliciously amazing. And I saved a lot of money (comparing to a Pasific set) :D
I would buy different drum heads for sure, but other than that, it's a really good set!
pretty good i've played a lot of different sets and this is one of the highlights.
I bought this set off craigslist And to be honest the set is a good set like other people have stated replace the heads straight off the bat I put remo pin stripes on all heads and black ambasador heads on bottom of toms and a remo control sound on the snare drum and the set sounds and plays like a pearl! I love this set I have been playing drums for over 10 years and sold my tama and pearl set a while back.. bought this one to start playing again and no regrets...
I bought this set a few years ago and it is still great! i replaced the heads with remo pinstripes and got some new zildjian cymbals, since the cymbals aren't the greatest quality. when you hit them they die really quick and don't sound great. but it is an over all good set.
yeah this thing is pretty sick for its cost, it plays like a pearl, no complaints at all
If your a starting drummer, go with a beginner Ludwig or Tama set. This set is more for little kids who want to play barbies. Anyways, if you put the best of heads on here, it still sounds terrible. The shell pack is the worst of quality. Save a couple bucks, and go with a Ludwig or Tama. If you have any questions, just email me.
Its an okay set. For the price its pretty good. I've been playing on it and I think the toms are ehh and the floor tom is well...weird ish in my opinion. Replace the heads fer sure. the snare is good. But other than that, replace the heads.
