I purchased the Pulse Pro shell-pack with black hardware a little over 2 months ago. While at first a bit skeptical, I could not be more pleased with this set. It's solid, well engineered, easy to put together. Sounds as good, if not better, than my band's former drummer's DW kit. As is the case with any drum-set - the stock heads are of less than tolerable quality and should be replaced right away. I replaced my beater heads with Remo, and left the resonant heads that came with the kit. Within about 20 minutes I had my toms tuned to be 5ths apart and was rocking away. The floor tom is amazing! The snare too leaves a little to be desired, but if you install an internal muffler , you're golden. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this kit.

I know, the price looks great and even better when you notice it comes with hardware. Here's some advice...don't waste your money! I've had this thing for about a year but I only used it a couple times a week for about 4 months. In that time period, the snare drum's beads and brackets shattered, the cymbal cracked, the high hat stand stopped working, and the slot where one of the toms goes in is pretty much useless for keeping it in place. I don't blame these damages on abuse, it's a drum set, you hit. This is all not to mention the bass drum sounds pathetic to begin with. Don't waste your money, I'd love nothing more then to have the few hundred bucks I spent on this back in my pocket right now to put towards a Pearl set.

I bought this kit for my Christian rock band and it far exceeded my epectations. We play everything from soft rock to hardcore and it sounds amazing through all of it. It's going to need new heads or some major rigging to the stock heads...and the stock cymbals are a joke...but with my evans onyx heads and my zyldjian zbt, zyldgian a custom, and sabian B8 cymbals, it sounds like a professional kit...def buy this for the price
This is a overall very good starter kit. for being one of the most affordable drum sets you can get, it also has a pretty good sound. I got this set for Christmas and it pleases me. Once you tune everything just right the snare sounds great. (at least for me it does, especially if you use moongels) About the only complaint is the toms, your gonna want to get some new heads once your experienced enough. If your a beginner and your unsure whether to get it or not....get it... you won't regret it.
I got this set like, 3 months ago, and its held up pretty nicely. The instructions that came with the set were absolutely terrible. I just fiddled around with it until I got it assembled. On a lighter note, the drums sound really good. The hole in the bass drum is really handy for stuffing it with blankets and whatnot(it needs the muffling). The snare is pretty spiffy for the type of music I play, but it might not be for you. Whatever. Its still a pretty sweet buy.
I've had this set for maybe a year, and I love it! Even though the instructions are absolutely crap, if you have at least basic knowledge of drums, it's not that hard to put together. I've heard of people drilling holes in the top of the bass drum to mount the toms...don't listen to them...they just dont know how to put it together, because i never had to. The stock heads are crap too. I'd recommend Evans heads or Remo heads...i like them both. And you really need some dampening rings because the toms could ring and echo forever. The bass is ok, but i stuffed it with a blanket and it sounds pretty good. Overall, if you make some minor adjustments, this is a great drum set, especially for the price!---Max
I know a couple drummers that use this kit in their band. I have heard it and I played it once and it sounds pretty bad, I even broke one of the toms the first time I played it. If you are just starting out as a drummer and aren't planning on playing any shows, this might be the kit for you. Otherwise, save your money for a better kit.
I got this set for general practice use, thinking my drummer would bring out his Mapex kit for gigs. Well, he brings out THIS set for gigs and it sounds as good as anything else out there. Of course we use Evans heads and good Paiste cymbals, but the drums themselves sound rich, full, no ringing and no harsh overtones. The shells are well made and the snare is snappy. My only complaint is now I have to help him load out when we gig... I wish he'd take his own stinkin' set! Buy it NOW!
this kit is a great beginners kit. llike any kit the heads need to replaced pretty soon, mine broke after about a month of playing. the snare isn't that great but i mean you can't expect much out of a kit when you pay thsi much. but overall a great deal and i love it.
Hey, This is a great set!! I just got it a few days ago and set it up. The Tom mounts are a little difficult to put together (especially because the instructions are horrible), but I enjoy it. DO BE AWARE that this IS ONLY a SHELL pack, that means that the cymbals, stands, and extra hardware do not come with it. Not even the Snare stand. I have not yet gotten new heads yet, but the heads I do have are ehh...ok, I will not say they are great, but they are not completely useless. Overall, I like this set, its pretty with the white shells and black hardware that does come with it.It is great for the price. I suggest you buy it.
this Kit is great for someone starting out. i had it for two years,my hihat stand broke after a couple of months, my bass pedal broke after a couple of months, my hihat crack after a couple of months.BUT hey its a starter kit so its a good deal, an after a year or two youll want a new one to sound better,,, i have replaced this kit an giving it to a friend who is starting,
This set is great for starters. This is a shell set, but when you get everything you'll be ready to rock. I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a great beginners set.
