The REMO Control Dot is a well engineered head, designed to have a killer 'fat' spot within the 'dot' area. At the edge of the dot the head produces a less-fat, and cleaner/brighter sound. As you get closer to the edge you get a timbale-like sound, making this a versatile head if you're likely to play (let's say) rock, latin, and jazz at the same gig. The head also produces a great rim-click, and has plenty of volume overall. The head really has, to be tuned well to get any kind of satisfying sound, otherwise it's a bit ring-y. Tune the bottom (of your snare) head to 'A' while the batter head is removed from the drum. Make sure you get a clean 'A' at each lug-point (worth the effort), then put on the batter head, tuning correctly to a 'C', or higher if you want. Mess around with the snare tension, and before you know it, your snare will sound better than ever. This is not a conventional head, and it does take getting used to the different sounds, but a sweeter rim-shot you've never heard ... my guitar players even noticed. Remember, the key is in the tuning ... snare side, than batter. Have fun, it's a great head!

I LOVE the sound that this head makes when I tune it right (which took me roughly half an hour to do). The only thing I do not like about it is that the head is just not durable at all. I have had this head for maybe a week or two as of writing this, and the coated layer is already starting to peel off. I made a switch from the Evans HD Genera Dry head which I liked, but wanted to stick with Remo. I bought this head with a gift certificate, though, so no worries money wise. As much as I adore the sound that this head projects (and would continue to buy this head if it would stay together), I am just going to have to stick with the Evans HD Genera Dry for the durability. I usually use Remo for ALL of my toms and snare, but this time, it is going to have to be Evans.

Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
I played with my friends kit the other day and I was so surprised with his drums. They were all solid mahogany and 15 years old. I couldn't believe the sound that came out of his snare though. With this head, it makes that snare even sound totally better. Definitely go get one. Plus it's so affordable!

Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
Plain and simple...I did not like this head on my 12x4 Pork-Pie maple snare. There was WAY too much high end ringing going on. My feelings are that if I have to add gell or tape to a head for great sound, something is wrong. I'm going back to an Evans Genera Heavey Dry batter...its clean sharp attack cuts through any mix without all the high-end overtones and ringing.

Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
As a serious "garage" drummer with club experience playing hard/heavy rock/metal, I'm impressed with the CS reverse dot. Of course, with the benefit of online tutelage, I finally tuned my metal snare drum properly (with muffling) and have obtained the celestial "crack" from this head-at least to my satisfaction since we all have our subjective definition of it. I just played a gig NY eve and am happy with the results. I'll probably stick with this head and keep rockin' in my early 50's. Peace/Out

Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
To me, this is the perfect snare drum head. The reverse dot dries out the center of the drum without choking it, giving me the exact sound that I want. The difference between the outer area and the center dot area makes it easy to have two different areas to play on for one song, a darker, "buzzier" area around the outside and a crisp dry area in the center.
I've tried other snare heads (I also like the Evans HD Dry) but I keep coming back to the Coated CS Reverse Dot.
Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
I have two words for the black dot snare head...CHARLIE WATTS...it's what he uses...and for years now so have I...for good reason. For best results, and that choppin wood "pop" sound... tighten way up on the clear bottom head. And the tune into your sound with the black dot. I use this head on my 1958 brass-lined Ludwig Supraphonic and also on my 10 inch deep x 14 Gretsch maple snare with great results!
Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
This has become my go to rock snare drum head. I have used it on Brady, Noble and Cooly, Sleishman, Yamaha Maple, Ludwig Chrome and everything in between. It has great feel with just the right amount of resonance. I still use a moon gel when mic'd up. It has a lot of crack and body. It seems to bring out the tone of the shell material. Highly recommended.
Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
way good. if you have a chance to get one do it and do it soon
the damping pad they have on it doesn't do that much at all but if you slap a dampining ring on it it sounds perfect
this thing is amazing. it has that classic punk rock metal bang that can be heard anywhere
this is amazing value, it turned my second hand $20 snaredrum into something that i would feel good about letting others hear
Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
Although it looks like a great, strong, and powerful drumhead, I was not impressed. I put it on and within a few weeks, maybe a month, there were dents! I play hard in some cases but not that hard. It broke in the bottom left side by @ months or so. Even when I tuned it in the beginning on a very nice Spaun vistallite snare drum, it never sounded very good. I expected more out of this Remo but I will say that I played on that broken head for many months after (sadly) and it still held up.
Comments about Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head:
