These heads are great for a warmer tone. The feature I like best is that like the ambassadors they are coated smooth white heads. So, if you'd like to try the tone between coated and clear, get the smooth whites. This gives them a punchier hit than the coated clears and they're two ply so they're built to last. That being said their main drawback is that they're shell specific. I first put them on a set of beginner veneer shells and it sounded like slapping paper bags. When I put them on maple shells they gave them the warm punchy tones that sounds fantastic when tuned up. This makes them a head for those who know how to tune properly. Those looking for something to transform their set look to something with built in muffling features. For the rest, tune them up right and they're awesome!

I have gone from single-ply heads to the slightly thinner Remo Pinstripe, and i am 100% satisfied with the Emporer for my snare. You can just feel the thickness of it when u hit the drum its incredible. And despite what the "experts" say i think that this is a suprisingly sensitive head. My ghost notes not only show up, but seem somewhat enhanced by this awesome head. I will never put another head on my snare besides Emporers.

Comments about Remo Emperor Coated Drum Head:
These drumheads are great. I put these as batter heads on a cheap TKO set and when tuned right, they make my cheap drums sound awesome. On my 12" I have it moderately high, giving that drum a more articulate sound. On my 13", I have it tuned lower so that it sounds like a floor tom. The 16" also sounds great, and keeps up with the precision of the other heads. If you can, I highly recommend these as batter heads. Maybe someday I'll put Ambassadors at the bottom and get an even better sound...
Comments about Remo Emperor Coated Drum Head:
the coating comes off too fast.. and it has a wild over tone after the coating comes off.. im working with a studio drummer and he has just a plain tama 14/5.5 snare drum and i though this head would be great for this drum.. it is but like i said, when the coating comes off the over tone goes up.. my advice would be to only purchase this head if you have a ludwig superphoinc snare drum.. other than that do not purchase this head..

I got this on my snare and it is amazing. Get this head.
Comments about Remo Emperor Coated Drum Head:
I purchased a set for my Tama SCP set. The heads had a poor tuning range and a miserable ring. I have used Evans for years but thought I would give Remo a shot. What a pain. I tune mid tension, above the low rock tuning but below bop. These heads just fought me the entire time. I found only 1 tuning that sounded ok, even after a break in period they still had a poor range. Just get Evans G2's and leave these heads alone.
Comments about Remo Emperor Coated Drum Head:
I used that head on my 12"snare,which was a crappy snare before i put this head on.There`s the fat sound you need when you tune it tight and no complaint about 10" head that I used on my tom, pretty good sound, but I will put soon an ambassador to see how it sound. And this head is good on the 10" tom and more bigger size of tom. This head is not recommand on a 8",but you can always try.To conclude, those might be the best head that I owned.
Comments about Remo Emperor Coated Drum Head:
Let me start out by bringing up some f the other reviews I have read: the one in particular being the one stating that the coating comes off quickly. The coating does begin to chip very soon, but this is customary to most coated drum heads. I employed these heads on my snare, and my 12 and 13 inch rack toms. I'm not a very good tuner, but these practically tuned themselves and required no muting what so ever (unlike most heads i've used, including clear emperors). These produce and bright and crisp tone, somewhat similar to the tom sounds of early Bill Bruford, John Bonham, and Ian Paice. I would buy these if you want to give your drums a nice, classic rock tone.
