      Best Kick Drum Sound Available...

      I wouldn't use anything else.
      Regarding sound quality, this head is pretty much spot on. I primarily play with a small amount of internal dampening on the drum; however, when recording, I will typically go without any dampening. In both cases, this head delivers. I have it on the beater and resonant side, and I use a wooden beater. Every hit is tight, focused, and full of a great "boom" sound that I haven't found with any other head.

      In terms of playability, again, this head is pretty much spot on. It has a nice snappy feel with the wooden beater, and it feels better than any other heads I've used.
      As a note, I do use a 4" Falam Slam by Remo, but unlike others, I have had absolutely no problems with breakage.

      I play with a wooden beater, and I play extremely hard, and I've never broken one of these yet.
      Great value as far as I'm concerned.

      Musical with punch!

      I have used these heads on my Ludwig drums: 26in Kick, 18 & 16in Floor Toms, 14in Mounted & 14in Snare (Supra-Phonic). The secret to getting longevity out of the kick drum head is to put a remo patch on it & it works wonders, it even gets rid of those unwanted overtones. I first started with a hard felt beater then I changed to a wood beater. The head pasted with flying colours!! Oh and I'm playing 3 nights a week & one of the bands I play for is a Led Zeppelin tribute. So I can say these heads can last! Don't bash the drums...stroke them and the heads will last forever!

      After playing a Remo Powerstroke 3 for about 3 years with no issue, I switched to a coated emperor bass drum batter. The head sounds great, but like the other reviewer the head split within a few weeks. I'm not an overly heavy footed player. This isn't the quality I expect from Remo.Poor value for money.

      Prone to breaking but amazing sounding.

      So just like every other drummer out there I wanted to get my set to sound more John Bonham like. So I went out and first thing was get this head along with a coated Ambassador res. head for my bass. Let me tell you, the sound is AMAZING. It's focused, warm, but somewhat dry, smooth, and just a nice fat punch without sounding too rubbery . Now the bad part is that within three weeks of playing probably an hour or two a day on my kit, it broke. I noticed about week two in that the coating got split in the middle, then a few days later the head just broke completely. Went out and got another and it did the same thing in a month with MUCH more precise tuning to ensure there wasn't any uneven tension. simply unacceptable for the price you pay.
