It's a great drum, but the blue hue or cast to the graphic is my only frustration. it sounds great and plays great, and if you closed your eyes you'd never notice it.
If you're looking for a djembe that can do it all soundwise this drum is for you. the 14 inch size provides an amazing range of tone, and projection. mine came to me a little ringy and high, and I had to drop the head tension quite a bit to get it where I wanted it, but it sounds amazing and was easy to do.
It's a great drum, but I have two issues on the look of the drum. the drumhead itself is a synthetic head that they wanted to look like natural animal skin. they went a little overboard with the fake spots on it I think. but that's just a personal feeling. additionally the wood grain graphic looks great indoors, but when sunlight hits it, it gives off a blue hue. that's kind of dissapointing as I enjoy playing it outside and it looks obviously plastic when it's glowing blue. that's the only reason for my low Quality rating. if it didn't have the blue hue then it would be a 10 all around.
This drum, for the sound is worth every penny, but I picked it up over Memorial Day weekend and it was on sale, so that was even better.

I'm usually not one to write reviews, but I'm making an exception in this case. The product is great and am satisfied in every way. What has compelled me to write the review is the great service that I received from Musician's Friend.
I ordered this product knowing that it was on back-order and would take about a month or so to arrive. Within a couple of days, the estimated delivery date was pushed back another two weeks. I called MF and they told me that back-ordered products are fullfilled first order in, first order out, and that it was likely that I'd get the drum sooner. Over the next three weeks, I received three automated emails confirming the item was still on backorder. I liked that they managed my expectations, even though it was automated. In the end, I wound up getting the drum two weeks earlier than the original estimate. Very pleased!
Well balanced, Easy tuning. Synthetic drum head is a great simulation of real skin. The color combination Choco Red is original and very cool.
Arrived in perfect condition. It felt like it was mine for years, the minute I started playing. The 14" model has so much more range than my 10 year old 12" Remo Dejmbe (which I've always liked). The bass is deeper. and the slaps are less ringy. Great materials and construction.
I think this djembe was worth every penny.
