I'll start this review out by stating that I have two drum kits. My working kit that I use for shows and in my rehearsal space, and one really cheap beater kit that I only use for home practice in a pretty crowded San Diego neighborhood. I would really only recommend these muffles for a practice kit that you play in an area where you don't want to make a lot of noise (i.e. you don't want to bother your neighbors or your family members) because they will totally kill the tone of your drums. However, even though the tone is gone the stick response from the actual drum heads is still there. I believe the stick response alone makes these better for quieter practice than the sit on top rubber disks that are out there. I bought four of these muffls for my practice kit, one each for the bass drum, both toms, and the snare. Two foam disks come in each pack, one for the batter head and one for the reso. I installed both the batter and reso disks and they really cut the volume down of my drums by almost 80%. Add some cymbal mutes and you can practice without making your neighbors angry. So awesome!

Cant even hear what you are hitting.
When you hit the drum all you hear is you hitting a peice of foam and it always slides off the drums. I bought one for all my drums and I never used them.

I always have problem to get solid tone of my bass drum, until I get this foam disc. I put it at the batter head (remo prinstrip), simply bring the tension at finger tight, no any extra pillow or muffle in the bass drum and the reso head, the bass drum just sing well, little boom, with plenty of punch and attack. This is a great product.
Comments about Remo Muffls Sound Control Single:
These Remo Muffls are amazing! The purpose of having a full foam disk is to kill most of the sound coming from the drum, so unless you want that to happen, I would suggest trying a different form of muffling, or using a method already mentioned and cutting out a good bit of the middle of the disk, making it a donut. I've done that on every drum in my kit except the bass drum and they all sound fantastic. Whether you make it into a donut or not, the Muffls will definitely kill most all resonance coming from your drums, but the donut method lets you keep the tone of the drum. These are definitely designed for practice or triggering, but if used creatively, they can really sweeten any acoustic kit's sound.

I have been taking lessons for ten months now, and I have always used the same snare drum, and it had a perfect sound with a nice punch in it! I eventually flipped the snare drum over to see what gave it such a great sound and saw one of these babies, along with this it also had a internal muffler, and a remo coated ambassador drum head as the batter head,

In regards to the reviews complaining that these rings completely deaden your drums, I think you're missing the point of these, and that is that they're supposed to. They're meant to be put on either a practice kit, or an acoustic kit running triggers. I use one on both of my snares (which are triggered), and they work great. Since they fit under the head and not on top of them, your drum retains its feel while eliminating 99% of its sound. Highly recommended for anyone thinking about running triggers on acoustic drums.

I saw these and decided to try them after having tried a lot of the alternatives out there for muffling. I have to say I was impressed. The tone was really good and it didn't mess with my tuning when I put the drum dial on it. The best part is, there isn't anything in the way sticking to the head, and no one even knows it's there. Somebody was thinkin'!!
Comments about Remo Muffls Sound Control Single:
I think this is a little too much muffling. If you install it correctly then it can make your drum sound kinda like a cardboard box. What I did was cut a whole in it to make it more like a donut. Remo makes muffles like these that are already like a donut but M. friend doesn't carry them. Over all though they are pretty good.
Comments about Remo Muffls Sound Control Single:
Let me start off by saying that I own the muffle "RING" not the whole foam disc. Musicians Friend dosen't carry the ring. I use it on my bass drum only and it works fantasticly. ok, here is my setup, I have an 18x22" TAMA superstar bassdrum with a remo fiberskyn powerstroke 3 on the resonant side and a clear powerstroke 3 with remo kevlar falam patch on the batter side, I use iron cobra felt beaters. I have the "ring" muffles on the batter and resonant side. It gives me the exact sound that I crave, plenty of attack with very little resonance. It's a great product and worth every penny. Just make sure you buy the ring and not the whole disc.

Comments about Remo Muffls Sound Control Single:
This is the BEST muffle product on the market, no doubt about that. It is kind of a pain getting it all placed on, because you've got to take your drum head off, but once its on, you'll be playing for hours on end just because it makes your drums so sound much better! I pity EVERYONE who doesnt buy these for there kit!
