Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
Bought this head because I wanted a little warmer tone on my low end toms. I used this head on my tour and in the studio a little bit. Overall the head did what I wanted it too. It improved my low end tom sound with a little tuning and really had good punch. It would be good for church and gospel groups and maybe some country tunes. I wouldn't recommened it for people who really like their toms to cut through the mix. It gets lost a little. Another thing I just couldn't get over is the fact that if you do "tom work" so to speak with some mallets of any kind it gets real paper sounding. That disappointed me a little. If you dont do a lot of tom work in your songs I wouldnt suggest this to you. If you dont and just do "feels" then your good to go. If you do like to play on them a lot then I would probably go Vintage emperor. Its a hazy head but it improved my sound. If you plan on doing studio work and have a good enginner and he can tweak it then your fine. Live...not so much. Just a suggestion. I put these on my DW kit made of mahogny&Birch and it just didnt fit. Its up to you though, if it sounds good to you, then it sounds good. Remo does make some good stuff though!

Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
I've been playing for 25 years and over the years I've tried all types of heads: clear, coated, muffled, non-muffled, Pinstripe, EC2, Remo, Evans, Aquarian....you name it and I've probably had it on at least one kit at some point.
I wanted the look of coated heads with the attack of clear heads and I have found that with the smooth white Emperors. I've never been truly satisfied with my tom sound until I tried smooth white Emperor batters over clear Controlled Sound heads as resonants. With this combination, my rack tom sings with dark beauty and my floor toms growl with aggressive majesty.
I will be a smooth white Emperor fan for life!!
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
I bought these heads because I wanted a darker tone to my toms. As it says on other reviews, these do sound very tribal. I do not like the texture of the heads at all though! The smoothness of these heads I feel is what gives them their tribal tone. I would much prefer it if they were coated. I would not buy these heads again.
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
When i got my set it had an 11 inch tom wich didnt bother me... untill i tried to find new heads for it. I finally came across these being the only line of heads with an 11 inch head. at first i was very skeptical about ther sound and durability. I had bought top and bottom for my 11in and 10in toms so for me it was very pricy because i also had to get new heads for my 12, 13, 16 inch toms. I put them on, spent some time tuning and... amazing. I got perfect resonance without any overtones. none at all. i have always been used to muffling my toms because of overtones and that always took away from the resonance. not with these. they are also the most durable heads i have ever used. ive been using them for a good 6 months now with everyday use and absolutely no dents or scratches. the heads havent even streched out after heavy use. I recently took them off to do some work on my set, they looked as if right out of the box. i was very pleased with my purchase and will use these in the future. also, if you are going to buy these, spend the extra few bucks and get another one for the resonant side. the two heads are the same thickness, and resonate exactly the same. when put together, they ring perfectly with bright yet warm tone, with very little to no overones. (however, if you are a beginner, or are inexperienced at tuning, they may not be exactly as i described. I am very picky about tuning and spent a lot of time tuning them the way i like them.)buy themyou will not be dissapointed!!!
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
These are the best tom heads ever created. They sound a bit deeper than normal but in a very good way. Easy to tune, I've had them for 3 months and they don't even have a scratch on them, despite their daily use. Buy these
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
I use a tama drum set for these heads. I went from coated emperors to these. To me these heads are in the middle between coated and clear heads. These heads are deeper than clear heads and coated heads in my opinion, but don't sound as "warm" as coated heads to me. They do last longer than coated and clear heads. They leave scuff marks that you barely see, so that's a plus. If you want heads that will last a long time then get these, but they do have overtones that last very long. If you want heads that sound better, I'd say get the coated emperors.
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
These heads are great. I've been playing for almost a year now and took a liking to deep sounding toms, these heads did just that for me. They made all my toms lower in pitch and great to what I like. So, if you like low pitched toms, buy these heads. They're great.
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
I love these heads for the toms, I recomend evans ST HD Dry for the snare and evans EMAD for the bass drum. Also the Evans resonants for the bottoms of the drums.
Comments about Remo Smooth White Emperor Batter Head:
I bought a drumset and only one of the toms had one of these on it, it was a 13" tom. It was slightly drop-tuned and it sounded like a 16" tom without overtones, so I slapped the rest of my toms with these and they are the greatest heads I have ever used. They are extremely easy to tune, especially deeper drums, I used to use muffling all the time until now because I can get the exact sound without all the muffling. If you have these as batter heads and Remo Clear Ambassadors on the bottoms, you'll have the best sounding drums in the world.
