I'm a drummer, and a good one at that. I'm not conceited, but I know what I'm doing. For years I removed the resonant heads, and pinstripes on the batter with tape, paper towel, and God knows what else to achieve the sound I wanted, I then hatched an idea, why not simplify this? So here's the trick, pinstripes on the resonant side, these beautiful emperors (dear sweet God, get coated, more versatile, more responsive, etc.) on the batter side, and for that final touch, internal drum mufflers (more versatile and adjustable than other forms of muffling). Now, for the tuning, for the pinstripes, high. As high as they can go, and the emperors, lower to the point that both heads sound like two different drums. The pinstripes kill all of the unwanted ring, and the vintage emperors allow the drum to maintain full projection, add the muffler (I used pearl internal mufflers, easy to install, good quality) and you're in complete control of your sound. I use a Ludwig kit put together from all my favourite aspects of the individual kit lines (The Brick *with the vintage Ludwig strainer and muffler*, the Ludwig Challenger 26" bass, Centennial 14" rack mount and 18" floor tom, Accent CS Custom 22" bass 10" and 12" rack mount and 18" floor tom, and two 8" toms of varying depths, I believe them to be Tama) I gig and am a session musician, and constantly get complimented on my kits sound. Buy these heads.

The remo coated empror are not bad but not they just don't sound like a snare should sound for me, that drumhead doesn't allow your to have a nice pop. If you prefer poping in your play you should get a coated ambassador wich are really better head, beacause it has the pop and the fat sound that you need on a snare. But anyway you should do your own experience before to judge.

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I LOVE these Vintage heads. Slightly warmer than regular Emperors. I play mostly Latin rhythms and like the warm, open tone that is pleasing to listen to. That's what it's all about, isn't it?
If you're looking to change your drum heads, you might want to try the Vintage Emperors, I am quite happy with them and would certainly recommend them.

      Best I've found so far!

      By StephenHaaker

      from Savannah, GA

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

These heads were EXACTLY what I was looking for!
They have that classic, coated, jazzy sound you find in Ambassadors/ Evans G1 but they have better response, greater tone quality (especially at lower dynamics) and easy tunablility.
They sound deeper and fuller than I expected but It's really warm and pure:
(No pingy overtones, just deep, solid tone with medium sustain)
      I highly recommend these heads!
(I run all bubinga shells with Evans genera resos on the bottom)

      The Perfect Head

      By Cole Campbell

      from Chattanooga,TN

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

Just bought these for my Gretsch Catalina Maple and they sound amazing! I've used Powerstroke 3 coated heads, clear Emperor, and Pinstripe Heads on my kit and have finally found the perfect head. The Vintage Emperor fill the room with deep, warm tones with a lot of resonance which is what I was looking for. So if you're looking for a drum head that is warm, resonant, projective, and easy to tune then buy these Remo Vintage Emperor Drum Heads and you won't be disappointed.

Great snare head for a supra

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I have a 1976 supraphonic, 6.5x14. This head is perfect for that drum. It pops and has wonderful body and bite, couldn't ask for more. Plus, it's durable and my supra sounds just like the Bonham snare sound. I love it. It's a bit better than a standard coated emp in that it has white mylar film which looks better when the coating starts to wear. Great head, I highly recommend.

      Remo>Aquarian

      By Threk

      from Chica, Ca

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I have exclusively used Aquarians for some time now, and a few days ago i went to replace the stock heads on my new Gretsch. I ended up buying some Remo heads to try to switch it up. They sounded soooo much better. I got two Vintage Emperor's and boy do they make those toms sounds great. I can now say i have officially broken up with Aquarian.

      By Prof. M. Lopez

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

I have Emperor on both of my drum kits, Vintage on the Jazz Kit and Black Suede on the Maple Kit. The full bodied sound alone with the focused tones makes it for me the best match. REMO and GRETSCH. What more can I ask? ... My guess nothing.

      Amazing drumheads!

      By element22ag

      from Upstate New York

Comments about Remo Vintage Emperor Coated Drumhead:

When I bought my PDP Platinum kit from Guitar Center, these heads were on the toms. I didn't really realize until I changed heads (once they wore out, which took an entire year and a half!) how great they were. Very easy to tune, with amazing sound all across the board. I play all styles of drumming (mainly focused on Death Metal and Indie Rock however), and these heads never once sounded out of place in any style or volume. Their durability is also amazing. I consider myself a heavy hitter, playing 6/7 days a week, and these heads stood up to an entire year and a half of constant abuse. They could have actually lasted a little while longer if I needed them too. I will be buying more of these very soon!
