Comments about RhythmTech RT7400 Hat Trick Nickel:

I am a 20-year veteran and cannot do without this item. Drum grooves take on a whole new life when intertwined with the Hat Trick. Accents, builds, refrains; this product really does help create an entire world of texture in drumming. I'm convinced it has even helped make me a more discerning player, ESPECIALLY live. Overall, I prefer the brass model in some things and nickel in others; it's really a matter of taste. Now, the perceived downside: It is not meant to be hit with a stick much at all, but a little won't kill it. It is meant as an accent piece controlled by hi-hat footwork. It will eventually break down, but the durability is not an issue when used properly and treated kindly during gig transport. I've sparingly used a brass Trick with only 5 sets of jingles left on it for several years now because the sound is unique and still workin'. I have tried other products aimed at both stick-striking and footwork and they never felt right- usually too heavy-feeling, awkward, and/or not as precise. I use a separate mountable tamb for extensive stickwork. Overall, I have probably owned 8-9 of these and they will always be a part of my setup.

Lasted about 3 months of normal use. Never hit it with my sticks, yet the lock bolts came loose and it basically fell apart. I expected more from this product.

This is a cool thing to experiment with, but we got it, set it up, and on the FIRST DAY we had it, it broke. I personally think it sucks. =/

Comments about RhythmTech RT7400 Hat Trick Nickel:

This is my second hat trick, the first one was brass but I broke it because I hit it with my sticks (not a good idea) THIS IS ONLY FOR US ON YOUR HI HAT! Do not hit it or you'll definantly break it, I prefer the sound of brass but this is still loud enough to cut through the mix.
