Rather than just discuss this tambourine, I am going to compare it with another Rhythm Tech tambourine that has the same form factor but with steel jingles.

I lead a church worship team that does not currently have a drummer. We do all-acoustic versions of contemporary songs, using acoustic guitar, bass, viola, keyboard, and vocals. On up-tempo or energetic songs, we sometimes use a tambourine to get some percussive drive.

I bought both the brass and steel Rhythm Tech models to try them out. Both versions share the same design. Both are well made and solid, and both have a nice, tight sound (for a tambourine).

The brass jingles on this model have a somewhat mellower and less piercing sound which we like with our stripped-down instrumental section. The steel jingles on the other version have a brighter, sharper tone, and are slightly louder than the brass jingles.

We are using this (brass) one because the sound fits better with the rest of our instrumentation. However, the model with steel jingles would be a better choice if we had a drummer, or if we were playing outdoors. Bottom line is that we are keeping both of them, and we like them both for different reasons.

I actually rate this tambourine 3.5 stars. I found the grip to be too wide and too thick for my hands, and by the time I had finished aggressively playing two worship songs was left with a large developing blood blister in the hand. Aside from that, I found the tambourine to be solid and responsive, and the brass jingles to have beautiful tone. If you're not an aggressive player, this one might suit you fine; but if you're inclined to shake one a lot, you should perhaps consider a different model, especially if you have small hands. Or simply order one and if you find that it's not for you, return it; otherwise, let the praise ring out!

Rhythm Tech Tambourine Brass Jingles

By Anonymous

Comments about RhythmTech Tambourine with Brass Jingles:

I have both the steel jingle (in Black) and also the Brass jingle in Red.They have distictively different sounds and are both awesome!I have noticed that the red brass version seems a little bit heavier that the black with steel jingles. I am not sure why that is,,,maybe the brass, but maybe the red color has more pigment?they are both bullet proof and for louder songs they are awesome when played against each other for a great sound!

Comments about RhythmTech Tambourine with Brass Jingles:

The best sounding tambourine I've ever heard. Warm tone great for acoustic music, drum circles, etc. You can use this at times when most tambourines would sound too tinny and cheesy.

Extremely solid construction. Even with ergonomic design, smaller hands can get tired.

The Brass jangles are darker sounding than the steel ones.......better live and not so overbearing in the studio. A better sound all the way around! It sounds "fuller"...not so tinny.

Comments about RhythmTech Tambourine with Brass Jingles:

The word I think I want is "classy". Compared to other tambourines, this sounds fuller, richer, deeper. If I want something in a quiet song, where the tambourine will really be noticed, this is always the one I choose. In a louder song the difference is much less noticeable.

Very sturdy construction, it has lasted a year and looks like it can go indefinitely. I love the grip handle.

I love this instrument! I purchased this Tambourine to add some flair to our live performances. It has a great sound and cuts through the loudest guitars. The double row of brass jingles really does the trick.
