OVERVIEW

V-Cymbal technology at an affordable price.

The Roland CY12R/C-C has the envied quality of V Cymbals at a reasonable price. With natural rebound and swinging motion, this cymbal very closely resembles its acoustic counterpart. This 12 cymbal is dual-triggered so sounds on the edge/bow of the cymbal differ from those on the bow/bell. This cymbal has choke capability for even more powerful playing. Use this cymbal as a ride, a choke, or even a splash.

FEATURES
  • 12" electronic ride/crash with natural swinging motion and inertia
  • Circular design, weight, and striking surface closely modeled after acoustic cymbals
  • Dual-trigger design for different sounds on edge/bow and bow/bell of cymbal
  • 3-way triggering (edge/bow/bell) and positional sensing possible using V-Drums TD-10 module with TDW-1 expansion board
  • Supports chokes for more dynamic playing
  • Compatible with all Roland electronic percussion sound modules, plus HPD-15 and SPD-20

just don't think

Comments about Roland CY12R/C-C V-Cymbal 12" Crash/Ride:

these things are truly amazing but the caveat my fellow "wood-shredders" is that these are not cymbal substitutes. You're hitting a very dense, heavy and ominously black-colored (there's nothing like shiny brass eh?) hunk of rubber. Once you get used to them, and you can laser-in on how the choke works (not that well) these are channels of audio bliss capable of hundreds of sounds out of whatever module you use. Look, the synthesizer wasn't welcomed in it's debut either, but keyboardists sure saw what they had way faster than we percussionists have. Tho you must admit, as Zenmaster Peart notes..."now you have all of these wires and programs to deal with"...again, they ain't regular drums, but omg what you can do with nearly zero tap noise on the pads. Have had my V-Kit for 7 yrs now...didn't even play them much for the first year. Moving back to apartment life changed that.

Great Product

Comments about Roland CY12R/C-C V-Cymbal 12" Crash/Ride:

I have all of the Roland CY cymbals, and this one is surprising. Initially, I wasn't sure about the size, but it has since been positioned as my most used crash - even more than my CY-14's. The weight and response are great. I am going to get a couple more instead of getting a couple more CY-14's.

false sound off . . . . .

Comments about Roland CY12R/C-C V-Cymbal 12" Crash/Ride:

I got this cymball in a kit I bought at our towns music shop - played great for a month, then it would start to go off without me hitting it. I would be playing the hats . .. then ding I would he my ride. It was with a clearance demo set when I bought it so it probably had a year or so of real intense playing - I did get the warranty - no worys!

Can't go wrong with these...

Comments about Roland CY12R/C-C V-Cymbal 12" Crash/Ride:

I purchased one of these cymbals to upgrade a cheaper Pintech cymbal and the difference was like night and day. This cymbal triggers perfectly and has a very nice sturdy feel to it. I plan to replace the rest of my Pintech cymbals with more of these.

Good product if you're OK with the size

By OzBadman

Comments about Roland CY12R/C-C V-Cymbal 12" Crash/Ride:

As part of the Roland V-Drum range the buid quality is very good. I have 2 of these with my TD-12s. One is currently a crash, the other a ride. The 3 way triggering when it's used as a ride is really cool. It is a little tricky to play as a ride though as the surface area for stick work just isn't quite big enough. I'm looking to get a CY-15R for the ride then make the current one a 2nd crash. Also, being rubber rather than metal, the feel is a little heavier than a normal ride (this goes for the hi-hats too), but as a crash it's pretty good, and the chokability of it is cool, if a little tricky to get used to (you have to grab the pad rather more sternly than you do with a normal crash). Overall though, I'm pretty happy and it works well.
