I upgraded to mesh drums from the rubber ones. What an incredible difference !! Quiet playing, better stick response and better feel all around. Rubber pads are good for triggering cowbell or sound effects, but for snare and toms the mesh heads are the way to go.

This is by far the best set of drums that I have ever owned, the mesh pads are very responsive, the cymbals take some getting comfty with, but once your tweak this set to your playing style it is AWESOME!!!

I have played acoustic drums for more than 40 years and the TD-20's are by far the best electronic drums on the market. They have the feel of an acoustic kit with even more versatility. They are expensive, however they are worth every penny.

I've skeptically used quite a few triggering systems including those that are acoustically triggered off of real drums. The acoustically tiggered method worked lukewarm at best. No drum pads I've played in the past satisfied the beefy feel of hitting an undampened drum...until Roland came up with these. These pads have a great feel and trigger very accurately. These only "shine" with the newest trigger modules that support multizone triggering and in effect producing a more dynamic and realisitc feel than most other pad systems and tricking my senses enough for me to be satisfied. These are expensive but worth the money just for the natural feel and response.
