These are a great improvement. These are made out of metal whereas their 1st generation holders were made out of plastic that would crack under stress. Also improved is the "easy on and off" clamp style. You can clamp these anywhere at any time as opposed to the 1st generation "slip on" clamps where you would have to remove an end to attach them.

Very easy to mount or remove to relocate on Roland drum rack. You dont have to remove parts of the rack to get the clamp off because of the gator mount, Made of very sturdy metal casing so it wont crack when you tighten it too much like I have a tendency to do when Im in a hurry to set up.
Also not mentioned but the L part of the clamp is longer and can adjust out about an inch more than the original clamps that came with my roland v kit.

I bought these to replace the tom mounts on my V-Pro kit. It worked perfectly. It's appears sturdy, and a *lot* better than the flimsy plastic ones that crack over time.
