Specialized features plus fresh rhythms, sounds, and effects!

The Roland HandSonic HPD-10 percussion controller is more affordable and streamlined than its big brother the HPD-15 (441917 - see customer products box), yet it offers the same great pad response that made the original HandSonic so popular, along with some sensational features and a fresh sound set.

    New Sounds & Patterns

An all-new collection of sounds has been created for the HandSonic 10; approximately 400 high-quality instruments are onboard. All of the percussive essentials have been included — congas, bongos, tabla, djembe, cajon, etc. — as well as melodic percussion, drum kit, special effects, and more.

    Sensitive Surface

Whether you're laying down the most delicate finger rolls or the sharpest slaps, the HandSonic 10's playing surface can handle anything you give it. The comfortable round surface is divided into ten individual pads with pressure- and positional-sensitivity. The popular D Beam is also included for dramatic triggering. Strike a virtual gong with your head, throw your fist into a crash cymbal, wiggle your fingers over a perfect chime gliss — you get the picture.

    Rhythm Coach

Flaunting your chops on the stage or in the studio is the fun part, but behind the scenes it's practice that gets you the gigs in the first place. For this purpose, Roland has equipped the HandSonic 10 with a Rhythm Coach. This virtual trainer provides exercises to improve your timing, consistency, and endurance.

    I/O Options

While the HandSonic 10 is primarily a hand percussion instrument, users can add a Roland kick pad (optional) via the external trigger input, or add a Roland V-Pad. The input is dual-trigger compatible for double the triggering power via an optional PCS-31L Y-cable.

    Features

    • All-new sounds (approx. 400)
    • 86 patterns
    • 10 individual pads with pressure sensing
    • Large icon-driven LCD
    • D Beam controller for sound/pitch/effects control
    • New metronome function with backing rhythm patterns
    • 20 multi-effects
    • Rhythm Coach function

Turn your hand into an entire rhythm with the Roland Handsonic Percussion Controller. Put it in the cart and we'll rush it to your door.

    SO Much Fun!

    By Relgrem

    from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

I'm primarily a keyboardist, but use a great deal of electronic percussion in my recordings.
I purchased the unit to expedite my drum tracking and get those great sounds.
But I've found the Handsonic so much fun to play and so portable that it's something I often take to gigs. I set it up next to my keyboard rig to join the drummer on percussion breaks or to add some tasty percussion to non-keyboardy songs. Or add some cool electronic sounds to funk songs.

From Santana to Prince, this instrument will have you covered for sounds.

The unit has 1 trigger input jack, but you can hook up 2 foot triggers with a Y-stereo splitter.

There's some things I wish it had, like a simple loop sequencer and hat controller input.

But all in all, I consider this a great buy.
Every pad is fully assignable with a fairly simple interface.

I wish it had a basic built-in sequencer.
It would be fantastic if it had a hat-controller input. You can use a splitter to add two foot triggers which is nice but you really can't do a good open-closed hat simulation.
    Sounds are top-notch!
Contruction is sturdy no problems with durability yet.
A little pricy, but I think worth it.

    Great addition to my setup

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

As a drummer, I'm always looking to expand my playing. I've been considering getting into more hand percussion, but with so many different types (conga, tablas, djembe, etc.) it seemed too cost prohibitive. Enter the Handsonic 10!This little gem does it all! The sounds are great and so is the responsiveness of the pads. Even a little touch on one can trigger the sound, so you don't feel you have to "beat" it. And if it's too sensitive, you can change that too! I've always been a fan of Roland. They make high quality products that do the job. The only downside is that they are pretty expensive. The only reason I gave it four stars for value is because this pad has been out since 2006 and the price has stayed pretty much the same. The only other thing I can say about this is get the stand for it! It makes a world of difference! If you are considering hand percussion and don't want to lug ten different types of drums around, this is your salvation. Awesome, awesome, awesome!BTW, Musician's Friend shipping is amazing! Ordered this on Monday and had it in my hands on Wednesday, with standard shipping! You guys rock!

    Simply awesome.

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

I absolutely LOVE my Handsonic.I originally bought this so I wouldn't have to lug my entire gigantic percussion rig around to smaller gigs. It's great for this purpose - I just walk in with my Handsonic and a snare drum stand, and 2 minutes later I'm set up. The added bonus that I wasn't expecting is how well the Handsonic can be incorporated with my traditional percussion setup. It allows me access to instruments that I wouldn't be able lug around with me (i.e. ten timpani drums, or a full set of taiko drums) that can add some really cool flavor to a song.I've used and abused mine - over the past two years, it's seen 2 to 3 gigs a week. Everything has held up just fine, and I don't exactly baby it.

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

I just bought one of these lovely's, This is one of the best and simple electronic drum/percussion controller/sound module I have ever found.I plugged it into my M-Audio Fast Track Ultras MIDI in and into Garageband on my Mac, And I didn't have to set it up at all to control the drum plugins in GB. Perfect, Can't say the same about my Yamaha Electric Kit...Get one if you need to control plugins or just need some percussion sounds.

It has all the percussion you need

    By Metalclaus

    from Panama

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

Bought this unit primarily for live performances, our band uses latin percussion and we have replaced lots of instruments with this unit (congas, bongos, timbales, etc..) for a fraction of the cost. Has nice realistic sounds, so now we even use it for recording, we even compose and record pre-production tracks using this unit without the need of a drum kit.

    Handsonic 10

    By Dondrummer

    from Kenosha WI

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

I bought this unit about 3 months ago. I was a bit put off about the price but I am doing a Duo acoustic act and I wanted to loop drums and percussion. It works great with my Jamman but I started to play it out at Jams and other events since my main instrument is drums. People are amazed and they love the sound. I have played the drum patchs and mainly the conga and bongo patchs. It has help up well so far but I still think the price is to high.

    Good Not Great

    By Connor-LOdxA

    from Chicago, IL

Comments about Roland HPD-10 Handsonic Percussion Controller:

Good but a pretty big step down from the hpd-15. It has many less features and feels like a little bit more of a toy. I would throw in the extra couple hundred dollars and go for the 15. If you want to use this for fun, it is fun. But at any proffessional level the hpd-15 is the way to go.
