OVERVIEW

Rock-solid playability in an integrated low-noise design.

Featuring innovative new technology from Roland, the KT-10 provides authentic feel and playability in a low-noise kick trigger pedal for V-Drums sound modules and other electronic percussion instruments. The all-in-one design offers fast, fluid response and a unique reverse-action trigger mechanism that makes the pedal not only compact in size, but also far quieter in operation than a kick pad played with a standard pedal and beater. With its small footprint, the KT-10 is ideal for use alongside an acoustic kick pedal in a hybrid drum set, and it also works great for expanding the capabilities of an SPD-series percussion pad or the HandSonic HPD-20. Of course, the KT-10's pro feel, noise-reducing features, and portable convenience make it perfect for use with any V-Drums kit as well.

Comments about Roland KT-10 Kick Drum Control Pedal:

If you grab the pedal at the top (toe position) with the thumb and index finger on either side and jiggle the pedal horizontally from side to side you will hear a clacking sound (clack, clack, clack). Since I play toe down I initially thought there was something loose on my rack and it was quite annoying. I prefer to practice at a comfortable level that would not be heard by someone on another floor of the house and the clacking was overpowering the mix volume.

If you play heel down you don't hear the mechanical clacking sound. So all I have to do is change how I play to have a quiet pedal. That is unacceptable to me and why this pedal gets a rating of 2. If I move the pedal forward so that I am playing toe down on the bottom of the pedal (heel position) the clacking sound is minimized but not necessarily eliminated and the feel is less natural.

I also felt like the pedal was fighting me when doing fast kick beats with a single pedal. When I started to adjust it I found that the pedal has two spring tension - "Strong and Weak (weak is factory default)" - rather than being continuously adjustable. With a real kick pedal I have never had trouble adjusting it to match my playing style to be comfortable and accurate. With the KT-10 I have not found the right adjustment yet. A real kick pedal allows not only for adjusting spring tension but also the distance of the beater to the drum head which directly correlates to the distance the pedal travels to obtain a hit but no such adjustment exists for the KT-10.

There is also the ability to remove weights form the "beater" but my initial test of this adjustment show that the weight is not really the problem.

So, my take on this pedal is that it is for practice only. It will be analogous to running with ankle weights so that when it is race time you will be stronger. You wouldn't run the race with ankle weights. IF you practice loud the clacking noise won't bother you but then again if you practice loud why do you need this pedal?

Comments about Roland KT-10 Kick Drum Control Pedal:

Can't say enough good things about this pedal. First it takes the place of a pad and a pedal so it's all in one. But none of this would be any good if it didn't feel good and play good. I've been playing drums a long time and have recorded on some albums in different styles of music, this pedal does it all. It's so fast and perfectly balanced you don't even need a double bass pedal. And it's so heavy it stays put. They really could sell this for double the price and it would be worth it. It's funny because just about everything else with roland is overpriced, but this one isn't. I play this with my td -15 supernatural module and upgraded set. Roland has finally done it. Come out with a bass pedal worthy of the new supernatural module. Now all they have to do is improve on the hi-hat pedal and I would say electronic drums have reached perfection.

Comments about Roland KT-10 Kick Drum Control Pedal:

I really like this pedal. I use it with a Roland Handsonic 10. It's heavy, very solid with a nice feel. It includes the cable and you can use two if you want a double bass drum pedal setup. It's much more compact than the Roland sensor and Pearl pedal I was using and it feels better. I'm using it straight out of the box and didn't feel the need to adjust it so far.

Comments about Roland KT-10 Kick Drum Control Pedal:

I HAVE USED OVER THE YEARS THE KD-7 / 8 / 9.....SO ON A SCALE 1-4 ONE BEING THE LOUDEST & FOUR THE QUIETEST. THE KD-7-8 RATE @ 1 AND KD-9 RATES @ 3 AND KD-10 RATES ABOUT A 3 1/2 I.M.O. IT IS A GOOD SOLID PIECE OF HARDWARE & VERY RESPONSIVE PEDAL. THIS BABY IS ONLY GOING TO BE AS GOOD AS THE USER, BUT THAT GOES FOR ANY KICK PEDAL OUT THERE SO IF YOUR A LITTLE WEAK IN THAT AREA THAN YOU'LL HAVE WORK CUT OUT FOR YOU FOR SURE. BUT IF YOU GOT SOLID TIME BEHIND THE KIT THEN YOU JUST MIGHT ENJOY THIS ONE. I KNOW I DO. AND IF YOU WANT *** QUIET PRACTICE**** AIR DRUM......BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY QUIET YOU'LL GET......

Comments about Roland KT-10 Kick Drum Control Pedal:

I've been playing drums 40 years and the Roland's since they came out. Can't say enough about this pedal. It takes the place of a pad and a pedal but still retains the feel of a traditional set up. I had the kd 120, but sold it in favor of this. It also is just as amazing as a double bass set up. Just connect two and you are off flying. Super fast, quiet, heavy and just plain awesome. I play mind with the td15 supernatural set up.
