OVERVIEW

Middle range V-Drums with top-of-the-line feel!

With mesh V-Pads all the way around, the Roland TD-12S V-Stage Electronic Drum Set lets drummers sink their sticks into the best-feeling pads in the business. The TD-12 module is an upgrade from the previous TD-8, sharing the same stunning sound quality as the flagship TD-20. It's loaded with over 500 percussion sounds and 262 backing instruments to deliver the flexibility you need. Incorporates the VH-11 natural-feel floating hi-hat (mounts on optional stand). An ultrarealistic feel comes courtesy of features like snare/cymbal interval control that changes sound based on the speed of your strokes. The snare pad has been enlarged from 8" to 10", and features positional sensing. The new MDS-12BK Drum Stand has advanced gripping clamps on pipes and conceals cables.

TD-12 Percussion Sound Module

With the same stunning sound quality as the flagship TD-20, the new TD-12 drum module provides hundreds of expressive instruments and play-along sequences. Many of the sounds are COSM-modeled for the ultimate in expression and realism. It has the same large, icon-based LCD as the TD-20, and is housed in a roadworthy metallic black chassis with a user-friendly array of buttons, controls, and mix sliders. 12 trigger inputs are provided, plus 4 audio outputs and MIDI I/O.

VH-11 V-Hi-Hat

The innovative new VH-11 floating hi-hat is comprised of one floating cymbal pad atop a fixed lower base. It feels like a regular 2-piece hi-hat and mounts on conventional hi-hat stands (not included).

PD-85BK/WT V-Pads

The new 8" dual-zone V-Pads feature the latest dual-triggering technology, resulting in more consistent and accurate sensing between the head and rim. Built tank-tough and ready to take a pounding.

KD-85BK/WT V-Kick Trigger Pad

The solid, great-feeling mesh kick pad has improved pad cushioning, and can accommodate double bass pedals. Torture-tested for quality assurance, it has the stamina and stability to handle the toughest poundings.

MDS-12BK Drum Stand

Mount your V-Drums in style and with stability! Featuring Roland's sturdiest grip clamps, this rock-solid rack lets you play with confidence knowing that your pads will remain locked in position. Cables can be concealed inside the pipes. Open-leg design makes hi-hat placement more convenient, and the wide design lets you easily expand your kit. Optional PM-3 satellite speakers can be mounted on the center poles without the need for boom clamps (speaker bases are required).

Well, I've been playing drums for almost a decade. I've been in a band for almost seven. This kit, is a dream. Before, recording meant spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on microphones, building sound barriers and spending the endless (truly endless) hours dialing your drums in to get the right sound. With this kit, it's one plug, not ten, twelve etc. Everything is pre eq'd. You have faders for each individual pad, and then you have compressors, equalizers, and every other sound modifyer you can imagine for every single sound it can produce. For recording, this is what you need. For practice, you can't ask for anything more, you have a metronome with every tempo you'll ever need, over a hundred different pre-made loops to play along to and much more. The best thing about this kit, you can mold to get any desired drum sound imaginable. If you want that fat hard hitting bass drum, or if you want that lighter softer sounding bass drum, you can do it. Then once you get it, that's only first base! The options you have with this set are amazing, it's hard to know when to quit. The playability is terrific and I'm a hard hitter. I try to maintain very soft hits when I play this kit, however when we are having a practice and getting into a good groove it's hard to contain that, and these drums take the beating and work everyday like the first day you got it. The only complaint I have is the fact that it's a little bit pricy. Still an awesome kit, thank you Roland!

I travel around the state with my band and have found that the break down and set up of my TD-12S V-Drums create reliability issues regarding hardware. Two of the plastic cymbal mount clamps broke within the first month I had the set. I had to pay to have upgraded metal clamps installed on everything. The set also dosen't come with cases. This is huge if you tour. I had to create custom made cases to travel the set safely. As far as the performance out live, it's been very good. They have a great sound with excellent pad response. I love what I can do out live as far as incorporating a laptop with additional instruments.

Really worth the money

By Dan.

from Columbus, OH

I've had my kit for about 3 weeks now and have played more in those weeks than I had in the previous 3 months. Being able to play at a low volume with headphones on .. I just don't want to stop. This kit I think is the best out of the bunch.. one thing is that this feels like a full size kit but takes up very little space in a room. The TD-20 is just too big in size and the TD-12 kit just looks killer. The one thing that I didn't like was that the rack wants to be right where I want my hi-hat ... my solution was to purchase a Gibraltar Ultar Adjust hi-hat and it fits perfect. This kit sounds and feels great.. tons of fun!!!

Roland TD-125 -- you will be pleased.

By Windbreaker

from Boise, ID

I recently moved into an apartment, so I couldn't use my trusty Pearl Drumset. I decided to purchase this kit, since it sounded great at the store. When I got it, I was a little skeptical about how it would respond, and feel, since I had gotten to love the acoustic drum feel. I must state, it doesn't feel exactly like an acoustic, but that's OK! The "brain" (sound module), with it's 150 or so sounds, and loads of memory, makes up for that. You can spend the whole day messing around with all the different drum sounds and beats, and have so much fun. The mesh pads are very sensitive and pick up all of my grace notes and ghost notes. It's worth the money, I think. I still love the feel of the acoustic, but this is an amazing substitute.

You'll LOVE IT!

By Mike-Shr1K

from Undisclosed

I was extremely hesitant at first because of the high price tag. And playing them in the stores I always loved the feel, but was afraid the module wouldn't give me what I wanted it terms of customization, tweaking, recording, etc. But now that I've dropped the cash on them I have zero regrets, the TD-12 is unbelievably fun! I'm playing them for at least a while every single day, I've created a kit that sounds awesome, and there are something like 250 music patterns you can loop and record yourself playing along to in order to critique yourself for example.Something to think about though is you pretty much have to buy another cymbal trigger to use a second crash. It comes with two, one as a ride and another as a crash but if you play along with the preset kits that have music patterns that are triggered by the second cymbal pad, you'll find it hard to crash on it without stopping the patter. So plan on dropping a couple extra hundred on that.

Great Sound

By Paul Villanueva

from Hemet, CA>

I really like this set with its great sound quality. My only concern would be traveling with it because I am not sure how fragile the pads and other gear are. The installed patterns and drum triggers were helpful to get my timing and chops back up (I have not played in 20 years), and are fun to play around with. I created my own kits and it is like going to a huge drum warehouse and being able to pick and select the exact snare, toms, kick, and cymbals that you want. Unbelievable! I could not imagine being stuck with one sound now. They are a bit pricy, but well made and sound very good. After 20 years of non-playing activity, this kit made me sound like a pro.

great kit

By Dave-2Sfsm

from Dayton Ohio

I have played drums/percussion for 30 years. I haven't had a kit for about 5 years because of the "noise". The Roland TD-12 is great to play with headphones so I don't disturb the neighbors or wife. It takes awhile to get used to the small pads and some of the drum kit settings are useless. Once you get beyond that and learn how to program your own kits it is awesome.I highly recommend this set.

Roland TD-12S

By Woodsie

from Dickinson, ND

This set is very well made. You can use this in any venue or recording studio. It works well for personal practice. Any drummer wanting to "expand his/her horizons" should consider this set-up. For even more options step up to the TD-20. However, this set will work well for most situations and drumming styles. The cost is steep. But as you know if you've used Roland gear before, it's worth what they ask.

Great Kit

By drummer1234

from Orlando, Fl

The reason that the overall is 9 stars is because of the price and minor problems. This is a very expensive kit but at the same time it is so worth the money. The sound of the toms and snare is incredible! It sounds so real that you forget that its even electronic. The cymbals and hi hat are also amazing sounding. The only problem that I do have with the cymbals are the way that they feel. When you hit the cymbals it doesn't feel the way it does when you hit an acousitic cymbal. But over all this kit is a must buy if you are looking for something with great sound. The good things about this set way over powers the negative. When I get the money myself I am going to buy it!

Welcome to the New millennium!

By Michael R. Mangaser (Ringo50)

from St. Charles, IL

I have always been an acoustic drummer. Nothing beats the drive and feel of a set of well balanced & tuned drums paired up with the right cymbals... or so I thought. When the late 70s and early 80s arrived, so did the "New Wave" sound. I purchased a set of Simmons, but if you have ever experienced the feel of playing these, you know what a change it can be. The advent of digital technology and superior electronics opened up a whole new world for musicians. The Roland electronic kits are everything and more! The mesh heads and cymbals have the response and feel of playing a real kit. Just close your eyes and listen! The sounds and flexability are unsurpassed. The superior Roland quality really shows in the TD12. I originally purchased this kit so that I could practice in the wee hours as my wife slept, but if you're a serious drummer and you don't have 24 hour access to a studio this kit is a must have. Check it out at your local store. If you've got the cash it's a no brainer! Simply the best of the best.
