I belive this Roland to truly be a great over-all kit. You are getting a lot for your money. Quality sound, build, versatile, compact, light weight, sturdy, good responsive drum feel, it provides a great action, and looks good too. My only gripe would be the brains sound selection and its center mounted placement. You could always move it but I have found that chord length makes that a little difficult. At the end of the day your getting a whole lot for the price. There are plenty of more costly kits that don't have the feel and sound quality this one does. I have never had an electric issue with this set or a lack of sound response. If you want to upgrade and add on later this kit makes that possible for you to do. Work with the drum placement on this kit, the hardware gives you a lot of options as far as that is concerned. The quality construction of this unit allows a lot of adjustment without fear of damage. When plugged in the sound is pristine and sometimes I am even shocked that I'm not playing a real set.
The best feature in my opinion are the mesh heads. The feel and responsiveness are excellent as is the sound quality they produce. Another thing I really like about these mesh heads if the fact they produce little strike noise which can be distracting. Additionally, the cymbals and high-hat have good responsiveness and only add to the already quality package. Set up can be a little tricky, but it is worth the effort. The hardware is fantastic and allows a lot of range of motion as far as drum placement is concerned. However the brain (center-mounted) can be a little tough to access depending on you tom placement. When plugged in, the sound is superb. The brain is easy to use and dynamic. There are however only 25 different kits available. While not the greatest selection, I have found them to suit every need I have had thus far. At the end of the day, it has a great feel, its compact, good hardware, amazing sound, and is a quality buy!
No quality issues here. Roland makes a great product. It is sturdy and versatile. I have thrown this kit in and out of my truck with no problems. The fact that it is so compact only adds to it's durability. It comes with everything you need minus a kick pedal and throne. I assure you however that for the price you are getting a whole lot! I have played sets that cost twice as much and haven't come close to the sound and feel quality. Save your money and get this durable kit. I continue to be amazed by the feel and response it gives day in and day out.
Depending on who you are and what you are looking to spend this can be a cheap or expensive kit. I will address both parties. First off; if you believe this kit to be expensive: don't be thrown buy other sets that look similar and cost less. Your getting a top notch kit. Mesh heads are where its at and you don't have to many options for mesh headed kits for less of a price. Spend the extra cash if you have got it and you will not be let down. You truly are getting a lot for your money, and for my money I could have got a better kit. For those of you who belive you have to spend more for a quality product: I would disagree. This set offers a whole lot. The hardware is amazing, as is the construction and feel. If you have got the money to burn consider upgrading the brain or adding another kick or cymbal later. This set provides a whole lot more than you might expect for the price.
Tempted? If you get one, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Forget the extras. If your set absolutely has to have those double bass drums and that crash cymbal array, you didn't give this anemic-looking little option a second glance. Good! It will need to be a few more years of ego-stroking and schlepping before something like this V-Compact starts to be recognized for what it is. I actually thought the set-up wasn't too bad, good instructions with the big pictures that any top-quality drummer can appreciate. I am an old hippie and it makes me laugh to hear someone count the fact that youcan only get 25 different drum sounds from your set. But man was never meant to fly either, I guess.
Not a single poor-quality screw. Great design, functional, easy to understand and operate.
If there is any kind of rub, it may be the price one has to pay to get a type of equipment that could never compare to the real thing, no matter how much they tweak and design. But if you actually have this kind of money available at any given point in your lifetime, this instrument is certain to provide many years of good service. Later on, it will also provide your grandkids with endless hours of silent distraction and gramps can still have his nap time.
I recommend this set to drummers of all skill levels. It is easy enough to set up and get started that beginners will be able to figure it out. Yet it has the quality and features that an advanced drummer will be able to enjoy. I promise you won't be disappointed by the feel and quality of the mesh heads. There is little excess strike noise so parents will be happy as well. The brain allows you edit, store, input, and output. It has been a pleasure to own and pay this drum set.
This a pretty standard kit as far as features are concerned. I will however say that the hardware is excellent and allows for a lot of range in drum and cymbal placement. The mesh heads are where it's at. They have a great feel and response. The brain only has 25 different kits but allows for a lot of editing.
I have had no issue with the quality of this set. It is light weight, compact and very well built. The heads and pads are very reliable. The sound quality is all excellent. The brain allows for a lot of editing and has great memory.
Your getting a fantastic drum kit for the price. I have played kits that cost twice as much but don't sound half as good. Quality response, feel, and sound make this a good value.
I ordered the drums on a Saturday and received everything I ordered the following Wednesday. Everything was packed well. My pastor and I set the drums up in about 1-1/2 hours and he started playing them.
I'm not a drummer, but the drummer who plays this set in our church loves them. I think they sound exactly like a real set of drums, but with an adjustable volume. We have had groups bring in their drum sets and almost blow us out of our chairs in the auditorium which seats about 100. Of course Roland is a well known brand in the musical instrument world, and I'm extremely satisfied.
We've only had the drums for a few weeks, but we have had no problems thus far.
I don't like having to pay more than what something is worth, but in my opinion, I got a great deal on this set.
