i got this set the beggining of last year and i love it! i decided to tune the mid-tom to a china and it's awsome!! i recommend it to any drummer who want's to have fun without emptying his/her bank acount!
I've just recently purchased the set and it's great. Getting the PD-85 dual trigger system to work well is a challenge, but it can be fixed. You need to go to set up mode and adjust the sensitivity and play around with it. Otherwise it's great.
I do not own these drums but I do go to Skips Music to play these things all the time, and I have to say these drums are AMAZING. I had never really tried playing the drums until a couple of months ago when I saw these. With the effects on this set I was able to make awesome sounding Hip-Hop beats and Metal drum parts and with the Drum Solo setting I was able to put together an amazing drum line. Some of the other sets in the store would skip beats when I went too fast but this one kept up with me. I could'nt put into words how much fun I had playing these drums. 10 out of 10 definitley. ASHTONISHING set, if you have the money I suggest you skip all the other sets and go straight for these.
I'm primarily a guitarist but play a decent drum set. When I sat down to play these for the first time, the first thing I thought of was difference between my old 1968 Chevy truck without power steering and my new car that you can steer with your pinky. That's the difference between a regular drum set and this one. You can play it forever, and from the look I got from the guy in the drum department, you would think I did. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.
I am so happy that I bought this kit. The mesh heads feel wonderful, the kit is very sturdy and well built and I can play in my apartment without anyone complaining! The TD6 brain is great and provides a huge amount of sounds to play with. The metronome feature is great for achieving better time and by assigning 'odd' sounds to toms/cymbals/etc I've noticed myself gaining greater independence on all limbs. Even if I were to buy a high end acoustic kit, I don't think I would ever get rid of these. I enjoy playing a wide range of music, and this kit lets me do that and more!
I bought this set for my church about a year ago and I am beyond words. The sounds that come from this kit will make a rookie sound like a pro...(if they have good rythym)...we run it over our Makie PA sytem with a Peavy 550 amp and they truely sound great. I'll never play on anything but these Roland drums. Loads of features make it fun to explore and it is loaded with tons of sound effects, we even use some of the sounds in our church dramas. The Bently of electronic drums!
