The first thing you'll notice about the Roland TD-6V Percussion Sound Module is the new black look and cool blue LCD screen. I have Played Guitar for 26 Years. I recently picked up Drums because I had a knack for it. I bought one of those Alesis DM5 Kits (Which is pretty good). My Major reason for upgrading was the Unrealistic HiHat Operation on the Alesis. So I bought this TD-6V and a FD-8 Foot Control. WOW!!! What a difference from the Alesis DM5. I am still using the Trigger Pads from the Alesis and the Difference is Unbelievable. It became easier to play the same Drum set just because of this Sound Module. The Alesis Foot Controller worked on this Unit, but did not allow Full Expressive Control of the HiHats, which the FD-8 allows for. One of the Very Welcomed Features of this Unit is the Song Mode. There are Several Songs to Jam along with, and you can mute the Drums out with the "Part Mute" Button. This is quite helpful for Practicing. I have a New Mesh head Snare and Bass Drum coming to go along with this and I can't wait to try the Dual Triggering to the Snare.
I own this module, i love it so much. it is easy, simple and amazing. It has many sounds and instruments, I spent like 4-5 hours just exploring the sounds and creating the drum kit that I like. Td 6 is the improvement from TD3, just like TD20 for TD 12. So buy this and you won't dissapointed, trust me....
I used my TD6V with PD-80R's. This module has great sounding drumsets, fun auxiliary sounds. Being able to trigger the tom rims is cool, adding twice the number of auxiliary instruments. Easy user interface. Decent price!
I was unsure about purchasing this particular module, but I could not afford the TD-20. After playing around with one in a store I decided to buy one. I was supprised at the ease of use in the editing of the kits. All the factory preset kits can be edited to make multiple custom user kits. Due to the quality of the sound and the price of other Roland modules being high I would highly recommend this product. I use mine with ddrum triggers on a Pearl kit, and have made better quality recordings, that sound cleaner with this module, and it took less effort for me to accomplish this.
The best module for the 21st century is the Roland TD series modules but, the drums look A little strange so I customized some stereo acuostic mesh style pads and real brass metal stereo cymbals, for the brain"They look like Hart pads"they work great. The sounds are more crisp, clearer and have a natural touch than the Alesis DM5 I used to have ,+ the cymbals are chokeable. I bet you will like the samples and the abilty it has.Roland score points in my book GREAT JOB ROLAND!!!!!
I had an Alesis DM5, it worked ok but I wanted something more. I bought this puppy and it worked right out of the box!! Within 20 minutes I was rockin out with my own custom kit! I will soon be getting my 2nd bass drum from DW but I figured I would see how well this thing would track a double pedal on a single drum [along w/ the DDrum Pro Kick Trigger]... not one missed trigger!! I have never played a triggered single drum and had it work correctly! Also, I didn't know that it recorded what you play, so I was extra pleased when I read the manual. You will need to pry this puppy out of my dead hands, get your own and experience how a module should work. Way to go Roland! A++ /m/
