Comments about Roland V-Drums Lite PM-01 Drum Monitor:
I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere for a drum monitor. I'm just going to stick to my headphones, or occasionally running them through my BX5A Studio monitors. I mainly got the HD-1 set for recording and loop/sample making purposes. The only reason I wanted the monitor was for when I practised. My room has great acoustics. All instruments sound great, as well as vocals. How am I supposed to practice when i can hear what my sticks are doing way more than the triggered sample playing in the monitor?!
One weak speaker. Only two real features. 1. The stand by knob--it does what it's supposed to. 2. The volume knob--it makes it go up and down, but high volume is weak. There's no kind of bass boost or EQ to get around the generic quality of this over-priced piece of junk.
Looks very nice, fits the color/scheme of many things in my room. The rest of it is garbage. The speaker is weaker than the one on my 15 year old alarm clock (which is a tweeter). When you play the drums, even with high sensitivity on the HD-1 unit, you can barely hear what's being played over the sound of your sticks rapping on the rubber and mesh pads.
Thankfully I got mine in a bundle which included the HD-1 set and stand, misc. That way there was a bit of a discount, but it's still ridiculously over-priced. I VERY rarely have such a low opinion on an instrument or electronic. There's just no excuse for this thing to be as pricey as it is, sounding like the quality you'd expect in a small kids toy.
Comments about Roland V-Drums Lite PM-01 Drum Monitor:
Great practice amp. I use it with the Roland TD-9SX. The impedance mismatch results in a quiet monitor--have to play via the headphone jack and the monitor dimed. But, it sounds great at a barely-above-speaking volume.
Comments about Roland V-Drums Lite PM-01 Drum Monitor:
This monitor sucks. Why? Well, for one it sounds totally distorted when you hit the bass drum. This thing was made specifically for Roland's V-Drums. So why can't it make the drums sound good? Second, it's way over-priced. This is nothing more than a speaker, and a low-qualilty one at that.Don't bother with it.
Comments about Roland V-Drums Lite PM-01 Drum Monitor:
I have been using the PM-01 monitor on my Yamaha DTXpress III for almost 6 months now, and have been pleasantly surprised. I live in NYC, so space is tight, and I only needed something that was loud enough to practice with my band at home. We aren't trying to blow the walls down, so this monitor comfortably plays over an acoustic guitar, electric bass, and keyboards. If you're just looking for a small rehearsal monitor you can't beat this price.
Comments about Roland V-Drums Lite PM-01 Drum Monitor:
I was very disappointed in the quality of sound this monitor produces. Not even close to being worth the money I spent. Get yourself a decent powered speaker set before you consider this product.
