An Epic and Afforable device that will be around for years!

Features:

They're very easily cared for. Wash them every few weeks if you leave them on the drums. If not, just put them back in their case after each use. I've used them for going on six months, and they're in just as good of shape as the day I took them out of the case.

Quality:

Very long lasting and worth the money. They never get in your way, and don't create much of an eyesore on your drums.

Value:

Actually worth more than you pay for them.  I think they're like 7 bucks on musicians friends, but I have to wait on them to ship. When I need them in a hurry, I have to run to a local music store. Here they cost about 10 dollars a pack. I don't mind paying the little extra, because they last so long.

Overall:

I've used this product religiously since the first time I tried it. A lot of people say that people use them to hide not being able to tune drums. This is total hogwash. The moon gels really only dampen over tones if the drums are tuned to a pitch. If you want to hide your inability to tune, buy the rings.

I like low, popping toms, so I tune my toms as low as I can get them with the batter head just slightly above resonating tension, and then I stick one of these on, and achieve my dream sound.

I use one on each tom, and two on my snare drum.

So if you like punchy drums with a lot of attack, this product is definately for you. It gives your drums fast attack, a lot of pop, and lets them retain their full volume. I really can't give these enough credit.

Way better than tape

| Review By: Brian Redmond | 3 weeks, 4 days ago

0 people out of 0 found this review helpful

Features:

I've used them for a few studio sessions (I'm an engineer) and they're great so far.  Unlike tape or deadening rings that tend to mute the drum as a whole, the moongels are much better at targetting a particular range.  You can quickly move it around the head to fine tune what part of the sound it's knocking out.  Seems like one per drum is just enough, two is too much.

Quality:

I've read that they get dirty or wear out which I could see being more of a problem outside of the studio.  I haven't had them long enough to comment on how well they hold up over time, but they seem pretty durable.

Value:

I'm not sure how well they last, but they're super cheap for how well they work and how useful they are.

Overall:

I haven't found many alternatives (everything else is pretty much some kind of deadening ring).

These things are worth their weight in myrrh.

Overall:

These things are so easy to use and they even make up for my terrible tuning skills. The only thing is that I can to use more than one for my snare most of the time so probably buy an extra pack or two, they are so worth it.

Moon Gel is out of this world.

| Review By: Curtis Sumter | 3 months, 3 weeks ago

Features:

The Moongel dampening pads sticks where you want them and stays there. Easy adjustment of the tone of your drums by adding or subtracting of more or less gel. One night I tried one one the bottom head of my floor tom and it stayed in place all night.

Quality:

It's hard to compare the quality because I haven't seen anything simular to compared it to, but they work fine as long as they are clean. They lose there stick when they are dirty, but I wash them off with a little soap liquid, let them dry overnight and they are as good as new.

Value:

These are a good value. For the price of a pair of drumsticks you have something will last longer and shorten your setup time as far as tuning goes.

Overall:

The Moongel is a must have for drummers that perform in a lot of different environments. Some rooms are dry sounding and some have a lot of ring and the Moongel help adjusted your tone to fit the room without totally retuning your drums. I recommend all drummer to have some on hand.
