I own the 20-inch medium thin crash. I couldn?t agree more with some of the positive reviews I?ve read about this cymbal. This is definitely a versatile crash cymbal that can be used for many genres. The crash sounds great at low & high volumes, but the sound isn?t over powering like some heavier/big crashes can be. The cymbal overall is a bright crash, yet it has a nice warm shimmering sustain, especially when played at low to moderate volumes. And when played more aggressively, the cymbal will ?cut? through?again, highly versatile crash. This cymbal is also great for a crash ride, it responds wonderfully, which I would expect from a large crash. I?m a fan of the SABIAN AA sound, which I find musical & versatile. I enjoy playing the ?vintage bright? as oppose to the faster ?auto-focus? response of the modern AAX?not to say the AAX aren?t great cymbals. I feel as the musician/drummer that I control the sound more with the AA. And I?m referring to the ?sound character? as well as the volume level. Obviously the more aggressive the playing the more response you?ll get out of a cymbal. I would also say I?m partial to a thin crash cymbal. I feel they respond more with less overtones & midrange, and yet they still have volume when I need it. As far as durability goes, I?ve been playing SABIAN for years and I never broke a cymbal. And yes, I have played aggressively. Now with everything I?ve stated, its all opinion & preference?every drummer?s playing style & ?ear? is different.

I love Sabian cymbals and will continue to use them, but my 17" AA left me wanting more and I plan on returning it for something else. Don't get me wrong, this cymbal is great for practicing and has a nice sound, but it lacks the cut that I'm needing. The sound seems to get lost in the wash of cranked electric guitars. Cymbal may be good for acoustic settings and possibly churches, but not for rock and roll. Granted, this cymbal did NOT come in a brilliant finish; it was a flat finish. I have another Sabian AA 17" in a brilliant finish which is, well, BRILLIANT! If you can get it in a brilliant finish, grab it. If you get it in a flat finish, get something else! God Bless!

          Very well rounded cymbal

Comments about Sabian AA Medium Thin Crash:

This is my favorite crash. Got the 17 inch cuz I seem to like odd sized cymbals better than even sized ones (weird, I know. This crash is powerful, cutting, explosive, and has the ability to be either fairly quick decaying (with a sharp tip/shaft hit) or broad and washy (acheived with a controlled bow stroke). So far, it has held up well. Even aesthetically, it's the only cymbal in my set-up that has yet to develop any sort of blemish from squelching. (my ZXT total china has blackened thumb prints all over it)This is a very moderatly priced piece, and I would reccomend it to anyone playing in any style.

i have the 17" because i live in a small little town with one store with any kind of drums and i just wanted to get a 2nd crash and this was the one i picked up. I really didnt care which one i got it was kind of an eeni meeni minee mo thing but man am i glad i got this cymbal, it has a great sound and you can get a great range of sounds with it. I recorded it quiet for one of my songs and got a bit of a trashy more china- like sound, but then ive played it other times and gotten a much different awesome sound im just really hoping this doesnt break on me, because it sounds AMAZINGBUY IT RIGHT NOW

Comments about Sabian AA Medium Thin Crash:

I have had the 20" Crash. It a warm shimmering sustain. Very powerful, but not over powering like a Rock Crash. Great at high or low volume. This baby has a long sustain. This think sound great for a heavier cymbal, I wanted something a little thicker so it last a little longer, but sounds like a thin crash. This thing also has a great bell, can be used as crash / ride or even a ride. Very versitle cymbal. Also you can find it for under $200 bucks.

I had this cymbal for a few months and broke it already. The sound quality was pretty decent but now I'm sitting here with a cracked cymbal so it doesn't do me any good. This is not the right cymbal for heavy hitters.

          A fantastic cymbal

Comments about Sabian AA Medium Thin Crash:

I bought this cymbal about a year ago, I have used it in small, echoey rooms, and large halls, for that occasion, the cymbal was unmiked, it cut through wonderfully, it is a fantastic cymbal, if you play any type of rock, blues or jazz, this is the cymbal for you, it has fairly fast attck and a huge decay, it takes very litte for it to make a very noticable cut in many situations, althought the sound does improve as the cymbal gets louder, when it is hit softly, it has lots of middle, which can make it 'muddy' but it still cuts throught fantastically. Get this cymbal
