Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
Like I said earlier,I baught my "Dry Ride" with a crack in it ,which I repaired.I paid $111 for this cymbal and it will never crack again the way I play, which is a light jazz style! The guy who cracked this cymbal, had to be beating the absolute crap out of it.This is a very heavy cymbal, with a really nice bell and very articulate bow ping sound. The"Dry Ride"could be used in any style music!
Nice bell.Very nice sticking on the bow!
Very high quality cymbal.I baught mine with a crack in it 2-3"from the bell.Fixed it and it did not change the sound!A quality cymbal!Someone must have beat the S*** out of this cymbal to crack it.It was deffinitly not a factory flaw !
For a ride this nice, you can expect to pay this kind money for it and it is worth it!
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
Overall, this is a great cymbal that is very versatile and will last you a long time. Crashable, dynamic and responsive bell, defined bow, and all for only 265 (cheap by comparison to other great rides)
Bell is piercing but dynamic. Can be used for everything from pop to metal, but not recommended for jazz. Great for latin and world music actually too. Has a nice dark semi-dry crash - very crashable for big choruses or even gentle wash riding, but defined up top as well.
Shows no signs of breaking or cracking. Sound has not detoriated at all in 3 years of owning it. It's a very flexible cymbal even though its medium heavy, ensuring that cracking is less likely.
Fantastic value - very cheap for such good sound. I actually prefer it to the AAX, HHX, and HH models because of its ability to be crashed, and its the cheapest RBDR Sabian makes!
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
I've owned this cymbal for 2 years and I love it. It is a nice big ride, darker than a "regular" AA with the coolest bell I've ever heard. I've also got AA hi-hats, 16 crash, and 18 crash, and the 21 raw bell dry ride is my favorite.
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
I bought this ride over a year ago. It was a very sad day when I cracked it. My cymbal setup is very simple; hi-hats and a ride. For this reason I like to use a cymbal that works well as a crash and a ride. This cymbal is it. It really cuts through and sounds fantastic recorded. I'm buying a new one shortly.
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
I went to guitar center with the intent of buying a zildjian a custom ping ride....that changed as soon as tried out the rbdr. its stick definition and clarity make it cut thru any mix. the bell is as a loud as a zil bel. its also versatile. u can get so many different sounds and colors from this cymbal. hit the edge and u slowly build up a wash; hit the near the middle and get the definition and clarity u want. i feel that if u idolize prog rock gods like portnoy, peart, carey etc. this cymbal would serve u better than anything else out there.
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
I have had this cymbal for maybe 6 months or so. I went from a Sabian B8 rock ride to this, and that was a big change. At first, it took me a little while to get used to, because this ride was a good bit darker than the B8. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked this as much, but then, I got used to it. It's a great cymbal! It has a good, solid crash that is dark and does not ring too long. It gives a good stick articulation, you can hear the stick response very well. I got this cymbal because of the review in Modern Drummer, and on here, and I am glad that I did. It's served me well in all of the applications I have applied it in.
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
Let me preface this review by saying I am very picky about my equipment. I searched all over for a ride sound that had what I needed-- dry, cutting, with a great bell and great definition. This cymbal DELIVERS. Not only is it exactly what I needed, its the best ride I've ever played, from any company.
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
I went to test this out, and it had the cleanest, crispest tone out of any cymbal I've ever heard. I can't wait until I get enough money to afford it
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
Most of my set is comprised of paiste cymbals, and I've had a hard time finding anything that can really compete in terms of sound quality. I was in search of a good ride cymbal, something that could cut, yet wasnt overtone heavy like alot of the heavier rides tend to be, and also hopefully lacking the heavy price tag. this ride turned out to be an excellent blend of dryness and volume without the wash during hard play. the bell isn't as large as comparable "metal" rides and their ilk, however when struck projects a nice clear ping that also brings out the tone of the cymbal itself without provoking wash. this ride I have discovered is an excellent studio piece as it is very controlled. Struck on the rim it makes a beautiful low shimmering crash with a hint of that gongish swell. Its volume obviously comes from its weight, as it definetely has some heft to it. This ride fits in perfectly if you're looking for something to cut through a loud or soft mix, and still give great stick definition for intricate ride patterns without mudding. I would compare this favorably to the paragon ride as well as the paiste dry heavy 21''
Comments about Sabian AA Raw Bell Dry Ride Cymbal:
It has the darkness enough not to be explosive, and it has the definition enough to cut through anything. This heavy ride is rich with possibilities and sound varations. With un-paralled sticking qualities, the body of this cymbal can be used for the hardest rock, and the smoothest jazz. A rich overtone (not wash) encompasses the overall sound of this cymbal when hit mutliple times that, isntead of decreasing stick definition, more rather fills in gaps that any drum strokes may have anywhere else on the set. And lets not forget the bell. The full range of tones achieveable from this monster of a bell can be felt with the head of the stick alone, but the explosive DING this bell can produce when struck with the shaft can shatter glass (or ear drums). Perfect Ride cymbal.
