Got this after hearing friend play his. The Bell is very loud and cuts through so well, while the ride is so sweet.

Comments about Sabian AA Series Medium Ride Cymbal:

There are very few rides that I can say I love playing. This one is one of those few. This ride is very versatile. I have used it for about five years for every genre. FIVE YEARS!!! It has been my main gigging ride for five years. I have tried many others but never really enjoyed them as much as this one. It opens up great, but also is very easy to articulate individual strokes on. My only issue is the wash. This ride will produce a tidal wave of wash if you don't hit it the way you want. I wouldn't use it for excessive crashing for this reason. When crashing on it, it sounds phenomenal. BUT it does not transition well. Either crash on it or ride on it. Overall I love this ride and would recommend it to anybody wanting a versatile ride with plenty of ping and bell.

        A very crashable ride

Comments about Sabian AA Series Medium Ride Cymbal:

If you're looking for a cymbal that does everything, this is the one, as it's a good ride and an acceptable crash. For riding, it's easy to tighten up the pattern simply by striking closer to the bell or bring out a washier tone by going the other direction. I was able to crash on this cymbal and accent with ease. In many ways, it reminds me of the old cymbals prior to the 60's that weren't really labeled crashes or rides. They were just cymbals that were expected to perform double duty. I'm a medium hitter with 2B sticks, so if you're a lighter hitter you may get less crashability whereas heavy hitters may find it too washy. For my tastes and playing style, this is really the perfect balance of crash and ride.

Best cymbol in this price range

Comments about Sabian AA Series Medium Ride Cymbal:

I spent about 2 or 3 hours in a local music shop trying to find a new ride and I ended up going with this cymbol. It's rather quiet, but has a beautiful tone to it (I think). It's very melodic and washy with less pronounced stick definition. This cymbol is not for everyone, but if you want something very musical sounding, go for this one.

        It grows on you...

Comments about Sabian AA Series Medium Ride Cymbal:

Well when I got this cymbal I was excited, and I opened the box put it and I was mad. I was going to return it then it thought..."I will give it another chance..." So I did, and I played it different ways, and I started to like it. It is a washy, high pitch overtone, ride cymbal, that has a good crash when used correctly, and I recommend this. If I were to go back, I would have probably got the tight ride instead, because its a bit higher pitched,(which i like) but the average shipping was a long time, but yeah.
