20 inch - a bit too much

I was very happy with my 19 inch that I used for about 2-3 years. It cracked during the warranty period and I got it replaced and then recently, the 2nd one cracked. I used the 19in to my left, mostly for accents so it wasn't my "main cymbal". I decided to go with the 20inch as my main cymbal since I've been breaking the 19in AA Metal-X's too frequently lately and thought I would try something different. I bought the 20 inch on a whim, without trying it in the store, hoping that being bigger, it might last longer. I played one gig and have decided to send this back. Simply, its just too much. This cymbal is beyond bright and cuts like no other. Very shimmering and loud to the point of overkill. It drowns out my 18in AAX stage crash. However, even though its a 20 inch, the cymbal is not very thick and I can see this thing breaking very quickly. Overall I was disappointed with the 20 inch. If you are looking for something on the heavy side that you can crash ride with, this is the not the cymbal for you. However, the 19 and 18inch versions would great additions to your kit so long as they don't get abused.

This is by far the best crash cymbal that i've ever used. I have the 16inch and it sounds amazing. It's got a great bright tone and can cut through when played loud, and it also sustains the bright tone even when played softly. The bell sounds great and the sustain when hit is perfect. It also has a great build up sound when adding dramic cymbal rolls. Just an all around great cymbal.

This replaces my 17" medium thin A crash. I really liked the fast splash of that cymbal, but it's the second one I've cracked....time to move on. I'm not a big hitter and play 7A sticks.
The AAX definitely has more heft (I got the 17") and I feel like I can (hopefully) bang away on it all day for many years to come. Bright but not instantaneous response that projects nicely...only my bass is mic'd. The bell is bigger and sounds better than the A. I will definitely go through a bunch more sticks, wood flying everywhere when I ride it; but a solid, bouncy response.
I haven"t played it long enough, nor played enough other cymbals to rate it a 5 (yet). Nonetheless, I'm pleased as it is a sonically more powerful compliment to my beloved, splashy Paragon.

This cymbal is very light and thin, even compared to my other crashes labelled "thin". It cuts through very well, even competes with my HHX 18 inch china. Great for accents, riding, whatever.

i think that this is probably the best crash cymbal i have ever played on. i used to love zildjian a-customs.. in the stores. but live they're not loud enough. this cymbal cuts through so well ,just like the rest of the aax family. i will definitely be purchasing more. if i were to upgrade my cymbals, it would be to Meinl Byzances. but until then, im sticking with theses. best cymbal i have ever played.
Super shiny.
I bought the 18" Fast Crash used. I didnt realize that it was an Extra-Thin cymbal until i was reading up about it a few hours before it arrived at my home. seeing as how im a hard hitter, i thought this cymbal would be a little sketchy for me. i decided to just see how it went. as i opened it, i noticed that since this was my first brilliant cymbal ( about a month or so earlier i bought a used aax stage ride for around 160 in brilliant finish but it was a few years old and the finish had somewhat been worn down ) it was a true fingerprint magnet. ( when playing i refrain from choking the cymbal just because it looks cool without the prints.... ha) i placed it on my stand and gave it a whack. i knew that from the first crash it was definitely a keeper. ive been playing it hard for around a month and a half now, and no dents/stickmarks whatsoever, amazing.
i bought it used for $145 so i cant say much about the value, but it was like new. but i definitely recommend busting out the money for this cymbal, or for the penny-pinchers, grab it used before someone else does.

Ive been useing these AAXplosion crashes(16'',18'') for about 4 years i love them. i haven't found a crash i like more than the 18'', amazing sound, i love the fact that they dont feel like there going to break under the sticks!

I will start off like a child. IT WAS SO FREAKING SHINY! Not even kidding. They literally took my breath away when I opened the box. I got the 18" and the 19". I love the shape, the huge bell, and the brilliant finish. It also looks hardcore when you give it a good smack, from the thinness. Woooo.
Freaking rediculous quality. I held them in my hands for a few seconds, then put em on the kit. First I hit the 18 inch, it shimmered and a smile spread across my face. Then, I whacked the 19. I think I blacked out for a second. I just sat on my throne for a good 5 minutes just crashing them. So awesome, cutting, yet very dark and deep.
Price doesn't really matter if you are getting something that upgrading won't be needed later. Also, this isn't too bad of a cost. Get it!
