I started out drumming on Paiste, wich cracked, and since I have a tight budget, I started collecting up the B8 series. Now, I admit, I have played on Zildian cymbals on a school's drumset, and they sound a lot nicer, but I play really heavey, and I don't care about precision sound, and these cymbals do the job for me well. Now if your touring the country or playing in Madison Square Garden, you might want to get a nicer model!!Depending on what type of gigs you play, these are a good cymbal!

Solid Entry Level Cymbals

I bought my drum set from Musician's Friend (an entry level one) because I always wanted to be musically involved. Alas, the set did not come with cymbals, so I went down to my local music store to pick up the Sabian B8 bundle you see here. The gentleman who worked there told me that these were entry level cymbals only and if I wanted quality, I need not buy the B8s. Being inexperienced as I was, I could not tell the difference in the quality and went with the B8s anyways.

Playing them for a few years, I can definitely now pick out differences in sound. The B8s are a crazy good deal for an entry level drummer who cannot tell the difference in sound quality. However, expect in a year or two to have to get new ones if you want to take your drumming experience further. The only piece I plan firmly to keep is the Splash. The Splash is the main one that has held its value for me the entire time of owning the B8s.

That being said, it is up to you the customer to decide if you are looking for something entry level to see if drumming is a hobby you truly want (which in that case, get them; I don't regret getting them even a little) or if you already know how serious you are with drumming, in which these are not the cymbals for you.

don't plan on thrashing these cymbals as the 18 cracked within 3 months.  These are and sound cheap.  You get what you pay for and if you are in the market for cheap cymbals, go for it.  I wish people would rate these what they deserve and not what an amateur thinks is the best thing since sliced bread.  Seriously think about it as these aren't the best but will get you by but you will be buying again in 3 months to a year.  My drummer just purchased these to get him by but is now using all of my a customs cause the b8's gave out on him.  Darn cheap drummers anyway!

I got these cymbals for Christmas;  Once I set them up...WOW!  These cymbals are great.  I've had them for about 3 months and they still sound great, obviously they're a little dirty but whatever they still sound great.

An Excellant set of REAL entry level cymbals. You got to start somewhere and for the price the entire Sabian B8 line is an excellent choice. These cymbals are rock solid and sound as good as alot of higher end cymbals. If you BEAT your cymbals, save up your money and get something else, but if you play your cymbals, well, enough said. Just go try them, you'll like them.
