My first cymbal, I tried a few in a music store and decided this had the best ride sound of everything in price range. Works as a crash too.
After developing my skills I started looking for more cymbals, and wanted to go with a dark jazz sound, Zildjian.
Well I spent 3 x as much, on a K Dark crash and yes that has exactly the sound I had in my brain, but really too much for a cymbal, if you're just playing at home and recording.
I found a used Sabian 20" heavy ride for 2 x as much, with a cool dark sound and that's great, better than this …However, during recording it does have a sustained ring that is loud.
So for recording, I went back to using this 18" B8 for my ride, because the ring is less noticeable.
So, don't think you're gonna out grow it, dump it.

When I first started I had this cymbal and used it as a crash and a ride. I have had it for about 3 years, still it sounds great and I record with it as a crash and sometimes a ride. I am upgrading my set and getting all new Z Custom cymbals. I have a Sabian B8 Pro Power rock ride and i use that as my "CLEAN" ride, but i use this for playing alot of old IRON MAIDEN songs. It is almost the color of a Paiste Rude crash ride, from all of the use and now it has a darker sound from all of the wear. But I recommend it for beginners.

        B8 does it again!!!

Comments about Sabian B8 Series Crash Ride Cymbal:

Great for all style of music, love the sound! Get it!
Sounds great where ever you hit it. Has a nice long crashing sound on the edge, it has a desent size bell that cuts right through the drums. Great for all style of music from Jazz to Metal to Country.
It will last you forever, i have had mine for six years and i am a super hard hitter and there is not one crack or dent in it anywhere.
Way worth the money. You get two for one so you can't go wrong.

        B8 Series Crash Ride Review

        By jameson wolfe

Comments about Sabian B8 Series Crash Ride Cymbal:

This crash ride is a good quality cymbal you can trust. I bought it after my last crash cracked during a set. This cymbal is thick and strong and sure can take a beating! To crash this is good for any genre of percussion. From soft rolls and nice ride pings in my reggae and jazz performances. To loud powerful crashes in my punk band. There is nothing this ride can't do. The only downfall of this cymbal is the bell. It is weak and sounds dead. I stay clear of the bell while playing this cymbal.

Great for both crashing and riding

Comments about Sabian B8 Series Crash Ride Cymbal:

I am very ahppy with my purchase, its two great cymbals in one for a low price.
Sounds just like more expensive Sabian crash cymbals and ride cymbals that I've played. I use it both as my main crash and as a ride. Sounds great even when transitioning from ride to crash or vice versa.
Great deal on an amazing cymbal.

I bought this cymbal at a local music store and was very surprised! it's a good ride, but the crash cymbal sound is incredible! Buy this cymbal if you are a newbie, or a drummer on a budget like me!

This cymbal is one I use a lot. It works ok as a ride but extremely well as a crash ... one of the best crash rides I've played with in my opinion.

Works As A Ride, But Maybe Nicer As A Crash

        By redrick2030

Comments about Sabian B8 Series Crash Ride Cymbal:

I've had this cymbal for about two years now and it's holding up very well. At first I used it exclusively as a ride, then I picked up a ZBT 20" ride. I play in two bands. I found the Sabian worked well for one type of music (grunge/punk) while the Zildjian was nicer for the other (folk rock/singer somgwriter). Then yesterday on a whim, for the folk/singer songwriter group, I decided to set up the Sabian as my main crash, and use the ZBT as a ride, and my 16" B8 Thin Crash as a secondary crash. This setup really clicked!! So my advice is yes, the Sabian will work nicely as a ride, and is durable, but try it as a main crash. It has the warmth, wash, and sustain I've been looking for and haven't found in lower priced crashes from Sabian and Zildjian. After all this crash ride is essentially a medium crash anyway.

        Good cymbal at first but,

Comments about Sabian B8 Series Crash Ride Cymbal:

I bought this cymbal 2 weeks ago with a 14' hi hat, and at first the hi hat sounded bad, and the ride sounded awesome, aswell as it used as a crash. But later, the hi hat sounded awesome, then the hi hats sounded sick, but the ride now sounds like a bad crash, and the bell sounds like a lame cowbell
