My drum teacher has a pair of these that I play that are well worn in and they are probably the best set of high hats I have ever heard. Sabian really figured out the right balance top and bottom cymbal and porting the bottom cymbal gives them just the pitch-perfect cut. These easily beat the set of Zildjian K high hats I also use in his studio.
I have been looking around for a while for a good set of hats, and stumbled upon a deal I couldn't pass up on a pair of these! I knew that I was mainly looking for a good sizzle, good closed, and good slightly open hat sound (since that is what I use the most). When I took them home, I tried them out to make sure they were exactly what I wanted, and here is what I found:These hats have a VERY nice and loud sizzle sound (which I use all the time with my style of play) and was a HUGE thing for me in my choice of a hi-hat. They also have a very nice closed sound that is loud and very well defined because of the vents on the bottom hat. There is no semblance of a choked sound like hats without vents because the air is able to escape through the two bottom holes ("vents"). The slightly open hat sound is very nice (a smidge metally), but GREAT volume which I wanted for building the sound of the music! The one thing that I dislike about these hats is the "chick" sound on them. The "chick" of these hats is really metally (which I dislike), but I don't use hats very often for that so it's not much of a problem for me.Overall, these hi-hats met and exceeded my expectations for the sizzle, closed, and slightly open sound. Those are the things that, for me, make this hat amazing! One thing... If you're looking for the same style hi-hat that I was looking for, check out any of the Sabian Fusion hats. I had my decision between the AA fusion and these, but since I ended up getting such an amazing deal to get these cheaper than the AA fusions, I HAD to go with these.
These hats are amazing. I have owned them for quite some time now and I have to say they are incridible. They are amazingly loud and are perfect for a metal drummer. If you are a light drummer I would not reccomend them to you so much but, to a harder drummer THESE ARE THE HATS FOR YOU!
